She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

They're maybe a week old. They're butts have yellowy water mess on them and I think there was blood.

Stop the ACV (replace with fresh water) and start Corid/Amprolium at outbreak dosage. NOW. For the whole flock.

Cocci is not unusual, but because of fluid loss it can be quickly fatal. Meaties are very "wet" birds so the effects are magnified.

I get after hatch deaths every once in a blue moon. The two that died were the smallest, so I don't know if it's genetic, or just not healthy. I'm hoping this next hatch goes a little better
ETA: Is your brooder elevated? I keep them on a table in the house brooder for the first few days, and the outside brooders are 3 ft off the ground. That, along with the plate heater, has really calmed the chicks down

Brooder is on the floor. I will try elevating it. I have used a light in the past, but I'm making a heat cave this go round.

Both chicks have feet/leg issues. One has the splay leg thing and the other has closed feet. I can put tape boots on the one, and try the cup thing for the other.

I'm starting to wonder if its from incubation temps a bit low. Maybe .5 to 1 degree. That would explain the late hatching. I'm going to bump it at least .5 degrees the next go round.

@RavynFallen

Wow just wow. This is how to ship eggs every body. These eggs are pristine. Only one air sac has a slight wobble and are all tiny. I can't see anything in the marans though.
I am so happy, I welled up just a little while unpacking them. I just can't praise Ravyn enough. Thank you so much.

Just beautiful. They all felt cool to touch. They will sit on kitchen counter until I set them in the incubator tomorrow morning.

I am absolutely amazed by the brilliant packaging and not one detached air cell. Bloody marvelous!

I received 100 turkey eggs this spring wrapped and packaged the same way. They also were perfect. Fat end up!

SC here is an updated pic of Capt K'nuckles our BCM.

He does not have a dropped wing. He holds it like that so it's handy for tid bitting for the ladies. He also has feathered shanks, but the RSLs picked them off when he was younger. I hope he get's them back with a molt or adult feathering. Faults: eye color is not quite light enough, but could still grow into it. Comb has the slight S curve in the front. Chest has some color to it with barring in the breast feathers.

ETA: About 5 months old and a little beat up from breeding the RSLs.
