She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Yes, I found some. Not a done deal yet, but we'll see! I'm hopeful!

Good luck! I've tried getting Sebright eggs shipped and never got one to hatch... :/

Have OEGB's though... at least for now... nasty little predator trying to pick them all off... really getting sick of this...

Not to jump on the lost chick bandwagon, but 2 of the smallest BCM were dead when I got home. They were a good bit smaller than the rest, and had been acting puny, but I was holding out hope. 2 other small ones are also not nearly as vigorous as the big ones. I'm down to 10 now, maybe 8. The 8 strong ones are very lively, eating, drinking, and starting to flit around, but I'm not sure why I'm having these after hatch deaths. There's no outward signs of them being sick other than small and lethargic. I don't know if it's due to incubation, pullet eggs, or just born sick. Hopefully the next round will go better. These eggs are a good deal larger, and maybe the lower humidity will help

I'd place my bet on digestive system issues. Of the hundreds I hatched this year, a few exhibited "failure to thrive", where the symptoms were often as you described. They hatched the same size and looked good, but as the days went on they fell dramatically behind in weight gain and size. I did autopsies on two and found gut twists near the navel that had obstructed the intestine. Once they began eating, it hurt, so they quit. Nothing you can do about that.

I lost two of my bantams today. Something spooked them to fly out of the garden and go for deep cover. Two came back, two disappeared. They are about 10 ounces, the size of a robin, so they could be prey to a rabbit.

Sad thing it was my black with copper head cockerel and my OEGB pullet that went missing.

Day 6 update on filthy, porous, detached air cell ameraucana eggs shipped from an eBay person in Florida. I left a negative review, as much as one can do only using 80 characters.

Out of a dozen eggs there are 2 that show growth and an embryo moving. 1 has a blood ring. The rest are clear. No surprise, huh. I will remove duds on day 10. Seems like an awful waste of time. I will commence turning tomorrow day 7.

So sorry for you. :hit  I bought eggs from Ebay - the ultimate Buyer Beware Site.   They were suppose to be SKY blue like a Tiffany blue box, her picture was exactly what I wanted.  The hens were blue, black splash -I really wanted lavender but the egg color was totally on the money so didn't care about the hens color.  When I received them 8 blue and 4 green - it was suppose to be 10 sky blue - they were barely tinted blue, pale dusty blue, nothing like the picture.  When I questioned her   she said "Egg color lightens as the laying cycle comes to an end. The eggs are a very nice blue in the Spring, as pictured. As for the green tinted, that's my beautiful back Kitsch hen - it is an accepted color per the Ameraucana Breeders Club. I thought I only sent 2 of those, I try not to send any but a lot of my girls are broody so numbers are down. Sorry you are disappointed. I am sure once they hatch you won't be. It's a beautiful flock of birds that I've worked on for years." Then I  replied  I would post pictures of the eggs I actually received, Second message was  "Apologies again. No one else has had a problem, I ship several dozen a week. I have pulled my ads down and am not selling on eBay anymore. My eggs lighten up like that every year, so do my marans. It's very common. Hopefully you do hatch them, they are lovely birds and my hatch rates have been awesome this year they had lightened up, "   I had Ameraucanas before and they never lighten up that much. So disappointed - I felt scammed.  I guess I have to order chicks from John Blehm again, I just don't need 25.
I know a person who breeds these birds she had some pure breeds that the eggs did not lighten up the hens that their lines was questionable their eggs did lighten up as the weather grew hotter.

Oh bummer. Hope they show back up if there's even a little chance.

Time to make that varmint prey.

Trying to... OH thinks it's a fox... I think it's a weasel...

Our local bunnies are chased away by the ducks, lol...

This thing is pulling the birds though small squares in the cage... no hope of recovery...

Hope yours get found... maybe they flew high up in a tree...

I thought they'd come home as it got dark, the other birds made enough chatter that they should have been able to find their way. Wherever they are, I hope they found shelter even if they can't find their way home. They're probably tapping on someone's doorwall...or sitting on a patio table at a neighbor's house.
