I'm down to 7 eggs!!! This is just heartbreaking. I'm done candling until lockdown. (Unless something smells funky). 1/2 the eggs...gone. And they were doing ok until 2 days ago!! Why'd they quit on me?? Fingers crossed for a pair!! Ok, I'm done whining.

Oh Ruby! I feel for ya. I hope they make it. And if you can't whine to us, who can you whine to??

I had a couple in my last batch that had some areas like that. Maybe not that large... but I'd have to go back to my notes to see if they hatched or not. I'm thinking some did.

Ha!
I am illuminated by your response

Idk what im gna do w myself if my bator doesnt get here already!!! How did u handle two weeks of this?!? I just wanna stare at it, i havent even been able to buy any eggs YET...

Is he shipping yours? I used the two weeks of waiting to find the eggs I wanted, and to give her time to collect fresh ones for me to set. When are you robbing the guy? Er, I mean, when will you get the bator?

does not smell at all.

In about 2 hours my 18th day officially begins. I have been reading about lockdown and most recently read a thread here on BYC that states to avoid starting lockdown until you see evidence of internal pipping…..
Do I at least remove the automatic turner without officially starting lockdown?

Do you know how old the eggs were? I assumed it was where the internal membrane stuck to the inside of the egg and the blood vessels just didn't migrate to that area. But yours looks a lot larger clear area than the ones that I had that were similar.

I hope it hatches for you.

I found putting a cockerel in with older hens works well... those girls teach a boy how to beyave properly, lol... :D

My young CCL Cockerel got his butt kicked by my EE hen. To the point of drawing blood. I had to separate them.

not to worry he's asleep by now . SC only comes on late to battle Amy for the mile stone posts.

IKR!!''

Keep that sappy stuff over in the candy striper thread! :D

......huh!? A bit harsh....

My notes only go the the person I love, not posted on the Internet.

Mine go all over and everywhere!!

:hugs I am sorry. Hopefully you will get a nice pair out of them. Day 19 and still no pip yet.

Ehhh. Does not look good.

thank you for the input Walnut and Ravyn…..reason I posted the pic is that there is movement in the egg, which I found weird.  I am very new to all this and was wondering if there was any explanation for the movement.

I would leave it in and see if it hatches. One of my eggs did that once but it died while the other eggs were hatching.

the view (turning it 180 degrees) is completely opposite of what u see on the pic.  It looks like a normal 17-18 day developed egg.  I am also freaked out and that is why I am posting.  When I twisted and saw this side of the egg and saw that there was movement I freaked out as well.  I am at a loss.

*taking notes*

Good luck on your hatch, @tgcanes
!

E1 else, too. :pop

Thanks....day 19 no external or internal pips as of yet.

Yeah, there is that too... probably depends on the hens and the cockerel maybe? Worked for my Sulmtalers and my Ameraucanas though... the girls only whooped them enough to teach them respect... both roos are sweethearts now, lol...

Go pips, Go!!!

My older GC's were always picking on my LO boys. I think they were flirting though...

But they could always get away from them, so I didn't worry too much about it.
Now my turkey is picking on all of the LO's, so I'm trying to get rid of her, since she's the only one I have.

I just rearranged pens, after moving the GC's, and the LO's still don't know to go into their new pen at dark. Their old pen is occupied by the cochins, and its closed up, so the LO's have started roosting on my chairs, outside the pen. I have to herd them in. I picked up one of the males last night, and he pecked me on the finger. Hard! But I just kept holding him, and he calmed down.
