She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

According to my father's sister, they had the direct decendant from Scotland's info somewhere, but no one would ever send us the info and I have not been able  to find it myself. My father was the youngest of 10 children and he's 84, and only has his sister left who is not in good health, her mind started slipping long ago, so unless I can find the parentage of my great great grandfather I'm screwed.  I have seen William Campbell Smith come up many times in my research though. (I've spent hours pouring over ancestry.com and google searches.)  I do want to, before my father passes pay for the paternal DNA testing to see what that reveals. I think it would be interesting.

Yup, that's my side, lol... I may still have some things I can look through, might find something, ya never know... used to have tons of geneology on our family, my grandma spent most her life on it... lost most of it after she passed and he remarried so new wife inherited...

My maiden name dies with my generation. I had one uncle who only had a daughter. I have a brother, but he'll never father a child (he's like your brother!)

Very pretty!!

Gorgeous. I appreciate you posting that picture right behind mine, because when you see them that close together you can really see how off my color is. That hen in the second pic is beautiful :love

Feel free to save any of those pics you want... I know you'll just use for comparison... :)

I have 2 or 3 hens like her, 1 with too much color through her body, and a couple blacks too...

Not the best, but not the worst... half lay decently dark, half lay eh...

See how different her rooster's color is than Tate? That's what I need to work on, but sounds like that will be easier to fix than the comb. I'm hoping the cockerel on my shoulder in the Monday pic will be a keeper

are you kidding not slowing down at least you know the names that is more than me . if your chickens are like mine they lay year round. with no artificial lighting . and cold weather don't bother me much. I've found my self with a bunch of SLWs should be laying soon taking care of getting ready for them If you sold yours I would be selling all the ones in My SLW coop to make room never been happy with them I'm growing these young ones out to replace them. but there out of my rooster and don't want him breeding them. and need the eggs there laying right now so about six weeks should it. I'll let you know as soon as I'm ready.
A long time APA member and breeder in my state told me that he doesn't mind poor pullets/hens if he has an SQ cock. Says they will produce SQ chicks if the pullets type is good. Do you think that's true?

your not mad your so far past mad there are no word to describe you but hey did sidewing tell you he bought some Bev Davis BCMs way to go SW must be a big cloud south of me keeps knocking me off line . Ruby egg shipments not packed well one shipment didn't get shipped at all death in Family was the excuse don't think they made it right.. Swidewing my wife gets on my lap top sometimes I'll ask her about the adds . thing is these adds are coming through The byc website but there funny so I leave them never open the link today was the first one for the Russian high school girls though.no biggie walk through the French Quarter in New Orleans you can stand in the street and see the show an they don't care if your children are there or not doors stay open. of course didn't have children then.
My sister in law lives there. Halloween on the french quarter was enough for me. I can't imagine martigras.

Ok, I gotta start today with a comparison pic since Labyrinth got brought up...

That's funny.

Ok, yesterday's wrap up:

Amylynn learned it takes a village, Ruby and ross have expensive pairs, WV is experimenting with a gateway drug, Walnut went to the fair and got hungry, silkie can't buy tribbles so Friday is going to sell her some beachfront property, William Shatner played Riker in OZ, silkie finally called me dad, don't take AmyLynn's red marker, public schools turn you into scflock, BR hates doctors, M Night Shamalamadingdong writes bad movies, BYC is the head of the TN militia, Ruby and silkie are commoners,Walnut and mixedupturk are stealing Brinseas, rats are better al dente, BYC ordered a bride, my mind is a silly place, paper elevators ruin movies, BR's dogs herd cats, Ravyn is a monsterbator, ross thinks guy's nipples are ok, gachooks is a silly English K-N-I-G-H-T, parrots are funnier than Spam, sideWing is an enabler, BCM roos are goofy, AmyLynn can't loose, AmyP only speaks when spoken to, BYC loves Nawleans, and I just work for Vizzini to pay the bills, there's not a lot of money in revenge

I'm dying!

I tried Really Hard to ignore it! Yesterday i did good without adding my French Quarter experiences! My hometown is litterally right across the lake, so i grew up playin out there. Does anyone here come to Mardi Gras?!
See above. I do enjoy the rest of the state though. I'm not much of a city kid.

Well, one thing to consider... I keep reading about people saying they wished they had started with better stock. Over and over, I keep reading that. So go with the best you can find, in any breed you choose. I also thought that when I started out, I'd take whatever I could get... didn't really matter. Now that I am a little more serious about it, I know I got lucky with my LO's. Not so lucky with my cochins, but I could tell that when I met the girl with the eggs..

But if you are going to get that bator on Saturday, you better find something soon. It will kill you sitting there not being plugged in!!

"More spoiled enormous birds"... Love it!!

And that's why I got on a waiting list for three months for these Bev Davis Marans from Julie Akers! They arrived this morning alive and well. SC, they do look very robust for chicks. Maybe all BCM are that way?

I'm little torn on how to proceed. 90% of people want BCM for the egg color, and mine started with good color, but I don't want to keep churning out bad birds. I didn't realize until I started on the BCM thread how difficult they were to work with. If I can get them reasonably close to SOP, then I will focus more on egg color, that's what my customers want. I will never show, but at the same time, I don't want to sell someone with aspirations to show birds that will take years of work

Wow!! Congrats on them arriving safely, and they look adorable from here!

So that Craigslist Brinsea listing was "too good to be true", they edited it and did not respond to ANY of my replies yesterday.

http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/grd/5178465695.html

I hope they get stuck with all of them. That's the cost NEW of two Eco 20s and these are not new, they should pay someone to take away the 2 LGs, the Eco 10 has a very limited market, and the Polyhatch/Hatchmaker is a throwaway if it doesn't work.

They are having a garage sale Friday so I may stop by.
