She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

some folks wait 24 hours I'm one of those I have  a question about the DIY bator and a suggestion did you stand the fan off the wall so it could  draw air from behind and you should you should put something in front of it to defuse the air it  looks a bit large.

I used very long screws for the fan and there is a2 1/2" gap between the wall and the fan. I also made a grill out of 1/4" hardware cloth and covered the front of the fan. The force of air from it is comparable to the brinsea.

I found this thread a few days ago, lots of great info and

. Every time a chick appears to be having trouble, my little giant still air incubator is sure to open. My latest hatches have been really bad (less than 50%) I suspect the problem is humidity related, since most of the eggs developed, but many of them died some time in the third week. Humidity was really high through out the incubation period (80-90%). Any thoughts on reducing humidity?. (I know, it's probably been discussed all ready, but I'm too lazy to read through all 160+ posts

). A friend of mine suggested using dry rice to reduce humidity, which I thought was interesting.

Like I said, I've been really enjoying this thread.

Ok, the froo froo guys are here, so now is the perfect time to start the next chapter of the polar opposites thread. While Amy candles and marks cells, the rooster is in the cage and I am currently heating the water to process my first chicken ever. I know several of you guys have been doing this for years, but after 7 years of keeping chickens this will be a first for me. I won't post pics, but I will give a follow up post later.
If the froo froo candy stripers get outta control, feel free to give them a :smack from me. I kinda like that Dan guy, though. ChickenShan seem like a trouble maker.
Oh well, 145 degrees, time to grab the knife...

we will be processing our 5 meaties next week. This will be a first for us too.I will be waiting on your experience with great anticipation.

I sometimes need to use a dehumidifier or crank up the a/c. Being on the Gulf Coast it is mighty humid, especially with the bloody rain. Poor chickens think that mud baths are in vogue.

The trick is learning to eviscerate cleanly, so took my time. That one went pretty good, so I have another I'm going to do. Can't wait for the taste test tomorrow
