She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Just wanted to say, I appreciate all the info on various ways to catch the skunk! I was just sharing his pic and the fact that I accidentally kicked him thinking it was the cat but I have no plans on trying to catch him. I invested in a very secure coop that's raised and off the ground. No way to get in. Also I know he's coming around for the cat food. So I need to find a different place to feed the cat or maybe just feed him in daylight. I think he'll stop coming around once the cat food is gone. He hasn't tried to hurt anyone around here yet, so I won't hurt him either. But lots of good advice if it ever comes to that.
If your flock is secure at night, I'd not worry about a skunk. I actually like having them around. But... I don't have a dog. Having a dog to take out to go potty at night, makes the skunk issue a bit more difficult. Yeah, putting cat food out at night can open up a whole pandora's box. Skunks are the least of your problem. You've also got rats, possums, coons, and bears, oh my!

A lot of my issues that I work out through my humor come from growing up in an addicted family. I have a lot of anger because of it, and I channel that anger through humor, mainly at Amy's expense

The reason I am still angry at 42 is because the addiction is still there. No one ever took responsibility for their own lives, it was always everyone else's fault. Kudos to you for taking responsibility for your own life, and making changes that are a benefit to you and your family

Addiction is a horrible life stealer. And I bet that if most people were honest, they could point to at least 2 family members who have either acknowledged or denied addiction problems. My family included.

Do you know I've been dying to see an internal pip! I never have. My first couple hatches I didn't dare open the incubator during lockdown. I thought for sure I would kill all my eggs. Then Amy convinced me it would be ok. So I keep looking for one. But all my eggs have managed to externally pip without me catching the internal pip!
All you got to do is wait till you have a chirping egg, then gently lift it out, candle it without changing it's position, then tuck it back in. Talk to it, sing to it, tap on it while you've got it out!

So, is that lighter part a weaker part of the shell?

Yep... it was a gap in the shell, repaired after the fact so not as thick as the rest... SC is describing the ones that eges overlapped and got repaired so thicker in rest of shell...

Should I still set it, as is?
All your eggs hatch perfectly fine, miss!! :p

Go ahead and set it, usually there's no issue with then, but it is easier for bacteria to get through there since it's thinner, so sniff it often...

Same concept... Ruby's is where the egg advanced a bit too quickly in that spot, yours stuttered... ever seen the twisty's??

I haven't seen the twisties, but both my marans flocks will lay the "belted" eggs. Being the construction guy, I know how concrete looks when the truck doesn't move fast enough, so I got the concept

The eggs twist as they are formed and if it isn't synched just right (think cement truck) it'll leave a mark too... usually you can only see it during candling, but I have pics of one showing it outside too... will have to switch to mobile to upload pics though...

I can name more than two, so if anyone needs any I got extras.

Trueth be known, probably half of my nieces/nephews have or do. My oldest nephew started with stealing prescription meds (and ending up in prison) to getting out, trying to straighten up but when you have a felony, not many employers will take the chance on you, to going back and upgrading to heroin-going back to jail/prison not sure which the last time, and out again just recently. Vicious cycle that doesn't break until the user is truely ready and willing to change. Sad thing is a lot of users go right back to the old "friends" and fall right back into it.
