I'm not worried about me, I'm worried about the chickens. I am usually an animal lover, but I detest having people's dogs running loose. I know it's not the dog's fault, but it'll make me dislike the animal. If it's an accident that the dog got loose, that's one thing (though I still don't want it in my yard) and I can keep my temper, but if it's someone that always has these "accidents" or don't care that the dog is running that makes me boil.

Ouch.

I lost a couple birds a few years back to a trio of Jack Russels from up the road that had a habit of digging out. Never so much as an apology from the owners, which didn't surprise me.

My renter took care of a feral cat a week or so ago. Now a couple people have been saying "has anyone seen that black cat running around lately?".... Nope!

When they start slinking around the coops at night, they gotta go...
I'd have to take my clothes off to count all the cats that have disappeared in my neighborhood in the last six years. Those things kill for fun

Amy dont feel bad about a BB shot at that dog, u gotta do what you gotta do. I also have had a problem with dogs loose. U remmember one of my B reds was attacked by a boston terrier recently? I gotta purplue hand for my rushing I woulda put a BB in him if i had one... Obviously im a felon and all :-/

A couple things....

1) I talked to Sally Sunshine! And the answer was quite obvious...re: humidity and shipped eggs. Shipped or local, no difference and there's no set %, go by the air cell. If the air cells are fresh and small start dryish, if the eggs are older/bigger air cells add a small amount of water and candle on day 7, to make adjustments as needed. But no advice specific to shipped eggs. (Some of my eggs will be 7 days when I set and I'm thinking of running 35-38ish % and see from there).

2) I haven't set the shipped eggs yet. I haven't even touched them but I would like to set them soon. I have these 2 quail eggs in the incubator. Tonight comes to the close of "hatch day" but no pips. So I candled. They are a greenish hue and very speckled, so really hard to candle. One quit. And one looks good. So I tapped on the air cell end with my finger nail and it tapped back!!!! Does that mean it's pipped internally?? No peeping. I can't see a beak in there. But the egg moved in my hand 100% and tapped. No external pip. Should be soon, right??

3) I almost forgot to say, I told Sally about the thread and asked her to stop by!

If it's tapping back that's a very good sign and I say you should see an external pip between now and 24 hours!!
