She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

I finally set eggs again last night. 19 possible OE. From my Marans roo x EE/Leghorn mix. They have pea combs so I'm hoping the chicks have the olive egg (blue) gene. I added a fan to my bator so we will have to see how that goes. Can't wait for my Brinsea Spot Check to get here.

ETA: Since the mama is half leghorn the chicks could get the white egg gene right? All the eggs in the bator are light blue.

Myth
Mine dont Run from a sprinkle or anything, but they dont stand around in a down pour either

Love the BR's!! I had 2 BR eggs, when I hatched my Slate, but one was clear and I lost the other with my power outage. Only my Slate hatched.

I think I read that only white/white will produce white eggs. Anything added to a white layer will give that color.

Same here! We had a major downpour yesterday evening. All the chicks ran for the coop (even the DA silkies!). The turkey just took her sweet time. The ducks just stand there and enjoy it! Yard art!

We are all novices in one way or another. Anything you share from your own experience is bound to be beneficial to someone else.
I processed my first chickens this year. I couldn't do the ones I've named, but I had a few cockerels that were destined for the freezer. You just gotta get in a mindset before you do it. It wasn't as bad as I thought

Thanks for the encouragement! Ive proccessed 7 roos that i raised from day old ages, one was named. I get about half way thru, and i want to suddenly cry and put him all back togther :-/ yes for real. Im cool til then. I have a quick proccess that doesnt stress the bird, i book learned it. Basically anything poultry, if Yall havent taught it to me, i book learned it ;) i have a whole ritual for thanking the bird...

I look at it like this: im gna eat chicken Regardless, why would i encourage the poor practices of the industry, when i can have healthy happy food. I Know that my birds have had many good days.

I'm still at the point where I would rather sell them than eat them, but there are always just too many roosters, so at least I have an end point option for them
