She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

That is super cool!!
I totally know what you went through! My first son would get sick every single month since he turned 9 months old. Anytime we went to an indoor play gym or any kind of play date, he'd get a serious cold, then the fever would start, then ear infections. He started kindergarten when he was 4 and got swine flu twice the first two months of school. He was so sick, he ended up missing all September. Went back, got reinfected and missed all of October. I kept him home the rest of the year, and he didn't get sick again. Now he's almost 10 and never gets sick. He built his immunity through the roof since he was a baby. There nothing worse then watching you're little one be really sick.
:thumbsup that's great news!! I don't know if I killed my eggs by letting them rest on the counter for 48 hrs or what. But I've only got 6 out of 18, looking good!! :hit
Omg! He's huge!! I only have bantams so he looks like a giant!! Lol. But so beautiful. I would not mess with him!!
They look great! Do they touch the ground?
They do. I have caps on the bottom side of the Ys

Walnut, I meant to quote you yesterday but time got away from me. Your poults reminded me so much of my baby peas! I saw that pic of the two that hatched in the 20. They are beautiful. After seeing that pic, I went to go visit the peas. I was wondering if they would remember me, I haven't seen them in 2 weeks. They are huge now!! And doing great! They came right up to me and sat on my leg and let me rub them. Guess they remember their mama!!

LOL that's what I said when I saw your baby peas, they look so much like turkeys!

I can't bond with those two as they are going to a new home, but meanwhile they are talking to each other and Baby is talking to them from her tub.

I am so sad that Baby has no one to keep her company. She's so big now...but not big enough to go out in the coop with the grownups, especially since the jakes are getting rough.

Boy, my gal that is buying eggs from me is getting a deal from what I'm seeing on here. I sell a doz. for 2 bucks. 18 for three.

She has been a reg. for a while. When she went on vacation, I did an add to sell them for 2.50 a doz. Wow. A lot of folks wanted them. Last time I went for feed, it was up at the Mill, so, I think I will raise my price on my eggs soon..I told her a couple of weeks ago that it was probably going to happen. She knows.

Hey Sally! Long time no see!

Good for you doing meat birds! Wish we had the room for it.
That's what I charge the girl that is buying from me, but I also let her know that next spring when all the girls should be laying and I have a regular supply that the prices would go up. I want to be able to compete with the stores prices, but not be getting taken. People around here will buy cheaper regardless of quality. Even if fresh eggs are better, they'll buy lower priced store eggs rather than pay a little more for fresh eggs.

Is this chicken fat? Like the drumstick? Guess what breed, I know you know. I've never ever seen one this big, they are big, but good grief. Can we make them too fat for their own good? I can't tell if he is over weight or not. Animals are lucky that way, if we keep them fed right, they keep their weight right.

Wow. Big chicken and look at those feathered feet!

My issue is having carpal surgery a month ago LOL I dont think I could handle that much pluckin, the guttin and stuff is no issue here, I hunt and everytime we process a roo the kids fight over who is doing what, my daughter is physco chicken processor, I cant get my hands in one!
I like the bowl idea, I try keeping it in paypal but hubs is always buying parts for something off of ebay!!!

I think I have a hard time devoting so much day time to schooling my own kids, HOW TERRIBLE OF A STATEMENT IS THAT!!! muwahahhaaaa selfish mother!! I would want to run around and play with them all day instead!

Here is our Blue Partridge Roo....

A Partridge Brahma Foot...

LOL getting out the conversion ap... fights = raised prices!!
1) Good luck on the surgery
2) We are actually doing schooling in the evenings. Our gym/library any field trips of course are day activities, but the rest we do when the house settles down and is fairly quite. We are night owls and it is really working better for us. Last year, we did afternoons and that was ok, but we are starting to thrive more on this evening schedule. He gets to play and exert energy during the day. I get to do my stuff and the chores and tend to my father where needed. Surprisingly though the kid is still a fidget box know matter what time we do school...lol
3) I absolutely love your birds. This is the problem with being part of a chicken group. You think you're happy and have what breed you want and then people share pics like this and you are back to
droolin.gif
again....lol

Ok, guys, maybe too many pics, but anyone with critiques, feel free to have at it. This is my first time with Ams, but I think I'm off to a pretty good start:

Splash hen

Splash cockerel. Here you can see the purple sheen molting to green in the blacks
Favorite out of them.

Nice looking feeders.  But, I have a question:  Doesn't the feed collect at the bottom of the Y and get stagnant?  How tall are they?  They look pretty big.  I think I'd need a step ladder to fill them!
I'm 6'2" :gig
I did think about the stagnant feed, that's why none of the fittings are glued. I can lift the entire feeder off the ground, pull the cap, and drain it from the bottom. I could also fill it with sand, but it would probably be a good practice to clean them weekly anyway

That sucks. I really thought for kindergarten after being in headstart all year that his resistance would be up and less occurances, but nope. I will say in 7 years, my son has only had 1 ear infection. He is however more susceptible to strep than average and it doesn't present as it does in teh average child with the spotty throat and everything. He runs a fever a couple days, has head aches it goes away and repeats a few days later and will continue this pattern until treated. I felt so bad the very first time he had strep. Went untreated for 3 week because we didn't know because he doesn't show typical symptoms. Even the dr said she didn't see strep signs but because of the temp pattern was going to test him and sure enough, that's what it was.

sorry to hear that!

I knew you would say that. The smallest and most pitiful out of the group

She has quite the personality. She honks more than cackles, and it's so funny to watch her running around and honking when she gets a treat

What can I say?

I'm the odd duck. I like the underdogs. She is my fav out of the bunch though.

Question for anyone with knowledge on shipped eggs: ever have a shipment go out on a Saturday? Good idea/bad idea??

My peas just got moved in with a batch that was 4 weeks younger. There is some picking going on but it seems to be going ok, from what I'm told. Can you eventually put Baby with these two or are they being sold asap?

Baby and these two would be fine together once she figured out that they were not some sort of alien life form, but as they are leaving on Thursday or Friday I'd hate for her to bond to them then have them go away.
