She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

:yesss: that sounds awesome!!
Thank you! If you ever want eggs, just ask, no charge!!

What's wrong with him!! He had the green light!!

Well you know girls mature earlier than boys ;)
And I'm gonna remember that about the eggs! Haha

I am so sorry.  :hit

Losing babies is especially hard.

My eyes are red from crying all evening, but I'm trying to stay positive and thankful for the ones that made it.
I very much appreciate all you guys support.. Hubby just doesn't understand like you guys do.

Hang in there, girl. There was nothing you could've done. It happens, unfortunately. Kinda goes with the territory, I guess. I've been through it myself, more than once...lost almost an entire litter of well-bred Red Setter pups to parvo many years ago, AFTER a vet told me it wasn't parvo.

Thanks. Plenty of things I wish I had done.. extra light, not gone anywhere this weekend... etc etc. But that's the way it goes sometimes. Learn from our mistakes.
Sorry about your pups too, that's awful.

I've lost them to brooder failure. It sucks, and I there's nothing I can say to make you feel better. We've all been there.
I'm really sorry. Just tell yourself they were probably all roosters...

Not from bamy?

We had our 4H Awards Banquet today. Our oldest got her Second year pin along with her poultry and cooking pin. And our oldest got her First year pin along with her cooking pin. We are so proud of them!

Congrats! Our girls are going to join 4h this year, I think. Getting some HRIR eggs in October.

Assuming that HRIR=Heritage Rhode Island Reds...If those eggs work out for you, let me know; I might get some myself..My Red Sex-links were supposed to be RIR's; at least that's what I ordered. The feed stores/hatcheries ain't shy about substituting.

Thank you. It breaks my heart, but I guess its yet another part of raising chicks...one that I thought would never happen to me, but it did. More what-ifs to learn from... I feel like this hatch has been cursed.

No!! It was not cursed! Look at all the beautiful babies that made it. Snuggle a chick in your bra...it will make you feel better, I swear!!

:love

Don't stop!! I absolutely LOVE your silkies. They make mine look like paupers...lol

It probably is. The first one of mine that started squatting was just trying to pysch me out though. I thought for sure she'd be the first to lay and it wouldn't be too long....ya, I think she did that for a month and one of my other hens that weren't squatting gave me my first egg....lol

Lol...that's probably what will happen to me too! I'll be waiting till the spring! I'm going to open the nest box (boxes-should I just open 1 or more?) and put some golf balls in. I don't even know how she sees, I can't even see her eyes.

Oh, I feel so bad for you!! Try not to think about it. That's what I do...just push it out of your head. There's nothing you could have done. You didn't know the light would go out. There will be more chicks. Again, snuggle some of them. I don't know if I'm saying any of the right stuff...I just really feel for you! :hugs

That's great. I want to get my son into 4-H.

Me too!
