Here is a little update on the BCM chicks. Terrible pics, but you get the idea. One with flash and one without. Iphone pics. Hatched Aug 15th, so just 4 weeks old now. Most are black, but two have some brown showing.

SC's not the only one watching your BCM's! They are looking really nice. The boys are really popping out the combs!

That's what I was wanting to hear about, the seller's view. I will probably start selling online next year, and I don't want to have to get set up to take credit cards. PayPal seemed like it would be easiest, but if someone doesn't have an account, that would be a problem. I don't really know which direction I'm going to go.

And, I hate to be a buzzkill myself, but I got to thinking last night...Haven't I read somewhere that you have to be NPIP to sell across state lines?

I've bought eggs from over state lines without them being NPIP. I think it might depend on the state? They only said fragile.

  Oops   (<---me)...  But I think we can talk him out of some of his non-SQ "d'uccle" feather footed eggs too, so even if he doesn't want any of ours, we can still get more of his!

I love paypal. Been using it for over 12 years connected to my bank account with no issues. Click a button and the money goes right into my account. 

I also started taking venmo. I would not be able to sell all my eggs at work if I didn't. Folks just don't carry cash anymore and they didn't want to use paypal because it was easier to use venmo. They have a great app.

I like PayPal too. Never heard of venmo. Is that to swipe credit cards from your phone?

Sounds good.  I would be nice to know who has what since I can't ever remember!  (Batches of 6 would be great for me)

Let me explain something, 8 years ago I got pregnant and aquired what is known as "pregnancy brain" -forgetfulness, easily confused, generally mixing up info.... Unfortunetly for me, it didn't leave when my kid came out and is still in full effect. Add that to talking to 100 different people on here and I generally can not remember who said what, who has what with the exception of you...and well...that's self explanitory and maybe two or three others.  True story!

It never goes away!!! Once it happens, your stuck with it!! Trust me, I know!!

I mainly use FB for some poultry groups that I'm a member of.  No other way to participate, so I signed up.

So true about the...what were you saying? 

Yup same here. I don't even have my real friends or family on there, just use it for chicken stuff.

A few pics of Miss Marans:




I thought she was going to be mossy since she had some brown sprinkles across her shoulders as a juvenile. They all molted out though. She has a great green sheen most places, but a few purple highlights here and there. Her hackles are uniformly copper, but the lighting makes it look more yellow in the pic. Needs better feathering on her feet though, it's kind of sparse.

Ok I'm ready to throw everybody for a loop on this one.

Ok so I'm as new as new gets when it comes to chickens.

I was doing some work for a lady and I kept admiring here Buff Couchin rooster so much to my surprise when I got done with the job she gave him and 2 black sex link hens to me.

So I built a nice little coop and they are happy as can be.

Ok so I'm the kinda person that wants things to match so I decided I need some hens, well I searched and after a while I found some but they're getting up in age so I want to hatch some.

So I turned to a friend of mine that has had chickens as long as I can remember for advice.
Well he does something I can't find anywhere else on the Internet.

He basically keeps his baton full 24/7/365
Basically if he has a chick hatch today tomorrow he puts in a new egg. Now after he told me this I looked to the Internet and I can't find anyone doing this, but what's crazy is he has a 85% hatch rate.



What r u opinions bc I'm lost now

That's the ultimate staggered hatch.

I've heard of it being done, it can work. Hatch rates may not be OPTIMAL but if you hatch that many it doesn't really matter.

I wonder how he broods them?

I use square. It's a wonderful tool!
