Still trying to sex our Wyandottes. They're 2 months old now.
I have wyandottes down now. They did take me awhile, being my first babies, that I hatched. I was convinced one was a boy as it had a very red comb and wattles from really small. No its another girl. But this is good as I only had one pullet before them.

I've got a wyandotte mix that I'm pretty sure is a cockerel...however I only had the one hatch. He (?) got a redness to his comb about the same time as his susex mix brothers, has much much thicker legs than any of the pullets, and in other ways just acts like a little man chicken. He's about two months old now too. I wouldn't be able to tell by coloring alone, maybe. If I had more of that mix to observe, it might be easier. His daddy is a plymouth rock, partridge colored.

My ameraucanas - wheatens are the girls and blue wheaten are roos. Haven't started laying yet but I have my fingers crossed for beautiful blue eggs.

Na, don't think you missed as much as I have. I'm 753 pages behind on here. Just found y'all. Looks like a fun page. Is it okay if I tag along in the mischief making?

Welcome to the madness!

If you get :smack then yep, you can stay... :gig

Think you may need strong coffee. That's ok about the beards. Like variety. Missed the post. Just skipping on ahead.

Oh, crap... you just reminded me I'm out of coffee... didn't make it to the store today since I had a welcome distraction, lol...
The beard issue annoys me, had to let Oz know... just irritating but his type is so good I will keep going with him... :/

If I can sneak up on them tomorrow and get some pics I will post them so you can see. As soon as they all see me coming they hide out in a pile in their coop.

My ameraucana are spazzes like that too. The marans will crowd me and jostle for attention like bratty kids (all are 4 weeks old) but the ameraucanas treat me like I'm the plague. I've been sitting in their coop with mealworms scattered around me to get them to come close...I'm definitely only tolerated for the food.

At what age is it easier to tell with them? I've been pretty sure my little one is a cockerel so he's (?) in the fattening pin with the other for sure roos. If he is a she, I need to get her (?) out of there.
