Found the little girl clb out of her house this morning, managed to catch her and found a very small opening. Then I found that Tempest had died in the coop over night, and Miracle is missing. My guess is that she escaped from the tiny gap that I found between the pens and was a snack. Haven't found her yet. Pretty upset that I didn't see it sooner. crappy day.

My hatch is finally over! All 3 eggs that made it to lockdown hatched! This was a very damaged batch of shipped eggs and I'm surprised any made it! I will post pics later. My next hatch is next weekend! Better rest up between now and then!

@chicapee I'm so sorry to hear about your lost chicks! It's always the ones your most attached too! We've had a mangy fox running around our area. My neighbor lost 2 of his favorite roosters in the last two days (they were my fav too and we such good gentlemen). I haven't let anyone out to free range until someone takes care of that fox. He's hunting mid-day so I think something is wrong. But we were just saying that you always loose the ones that are special too you! I feel for you!

That's what happened to 2 of my ducks. Fox in the daytime 2 days in a row. I was in and out especially the 2nd day and it took one between 1 and 3 pm.

Oh no!!! I am so sorry. . I put my chickens away today because as I was outside I had a hawk do a low fly by and freaked them all out. So.....I was not going to take a chance.

Happy Saturday! Im so glad all three tour babies made it! Parade is in order! I would run it myself if i wasnt on a phone! You Go girl!!!

I kind of fell into this customer for the ducklings, i had posted my extra Cayuga drake for sale on CL, she called and asked if i had anymore of any birds that i could sell with him. I told her about the eggs in the bator and she wanted them All, i was shocked, and went on to question her... Sounds legit and like they have the equiptment, space, and know how so... Sold! lol! I have another friend who wants me to hatch for him, and theres a third man we have just met that plays at the auction a whole lot, cant wait to see how this relationship develops! Then theres my uncle, i talked him into more duck hens, but he wont get rid of any of his drakes, theyre SPECiaL :-/ still workin on him! I always try to keep any decent contacts i make, and i try to work with them as much as possible because those happy traders/customers have been the best buisness i can find. Ive been an entrepreneur all my life and so i had alot of buisness/marketing know how that i have applied here from jump. I would love to help anyone interested in furthuring their income oppurtunities! Im no guru or anything, but ive managed to almost stay afloat with my flock...

Those hawks are vicious. I couldn't believe the damage I saw one do in such a very short time. We worked on the run all day today. It's ready for chicken wire and doors. I intend to get the wire tacked in place with a staple gun, then work my way around with the U staples to complete the job. Gonna put a people door on the east and west sides, and will let them use the clean out door until I get a pop door built for them.

we have Hawks around here all the time!! Hubby was busy building me a new run today too...I've got biddies and I don't want any hawks getting them. They are in a brooder pen right now.
