She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Isn't it always something that seems so obvious that we overlook sometimes? :gig  Here we are overthinking the world.

I think if you sort them the best you can and be honest about it you will still get buyers. And if you want to make sure it's right, perhaps offer an exchange/credit/however you wish to handle it if they get the wrong breed?

Thats right, overthinkn the whole universe...

What you outlined is what i intended to do i think, i know whos lookn for what and i basically know who would buy them :) thanks for your input!

Here is my youngest in her little "chick hatching out of an egg" costume!

She loves it!!! I will paint their noses and mouth area the color of their beaks....lol!!!
I love it!

I toss stripped deer carcasses to my chickens every November and you'd think they were piranha, not chickens. They pick the bones clean of every scrap of meat. Lots of protein, raw and unprocessed. Wild birds scavenge too, and the fat and protein is good for them as a portion of their diet.
And this is why I pray I never pass out in the run or coop.

Final on my hatch

Sorry guys, its only 88% no parade for me this turn, maybe next! I would also like to report though, i did move up from 84% on my ducky hatch to 88% this time. Im pretty happy about the numbers, but not parade worthy... Theyres more hatchs to come

no worries!
I was going to ask if anyone remembers what the guidlines were.....

75% shipped and BCM, 85% for your own eggs, but Amy is the Grand Marshall on this thread now

This is what I thought....but I still think since you have visitation, you should retain the status.... it's your "thing" and it comes so much more nautral to you!

I do the same thing; have for years. When I was using the large walk-in coop adjacent to where we hang & process deer, I'd just open the run door and the feeding frenzy would begin! They particular relish the trimmed fat, though, having tasted it myself, I sure don't know why. If we laid the hide out flat, hair side down, they'd have a ball with the bits of meat still on it.

@RubyNala97
,As far as cooking your hot dogs, I wouldn't bother; they're partially cooked before they're packaged. If "raw" hot dogs were going to kill me, I'd be long since dead. In fact, Mom used to grind them up, mix in a little relish & mayo, and make a great sandwich spread when we were kids.

Good point! I used to eat them raw as a kid too....can't believe I'm admitting that. Lol!

Ok, I have a question for the fermented feed feeders out there. When you talk about fermented feed, are you talking about using regular crumble/pellets or scratch grains and raw stuff? I am asking because the group on FB (not the crazy control freaks) was talking about it and one member made the comment that you should never ferment crumbles/pellets just grains. So I've been floating around the web reading different FF sources and I see talk about grains and "feed" but not finding specifics to crumbles/pellets being fermented and now it has me all confused.

Ok. Do all my dumb ducks count? They started out under my silkie but when the first 2 hatched, I put the eggs in the bator. Over 2 weeks ago they started and they're still hatching. So far all of them have hatched. Since when does that happen? I'm ready to toss the last 3. Lol

Anybody want an adorable black baby runner or 3?

@mixedUPturk :hugs I'm fine, just busy... got my hands full right now... will be back in a while to catch up... just wanted to say real quick, do your EE's have pea combs? If so, you can tell them apart from the PR's easily... broader, flat combs are EE's and anything with a line or bitty points poking up is PR... if you need help sorting, pm me...

And in my opinion, Turk deserves a parade... 90% and higher should be reserved for cabinet bators, I think... :D ;)

Thank you! And i use FF. I had done it before then quit an now im at it again. Its harder woth normal pellets or feed vs raw grain and such because the feed usually contains AVG or AVC idk i forget but the point is that that ingerdient helps preserve the feed and that it makes the ferment take longer. Mine takes forever but my birds are really starting to get into it.

Awe! Thank you! Im glad your okay! I will let you know when i try sorting but their combs are mostly pointed :/ i think i remmember one hatching with a pea and i will look for it!

Im not saying i wouldnt appreciate or enjoy a
Parade, only that its suposed to be difficult to earn. Gotta really know your inc. and although my percentage increased, i have alot more to learn, and Thats the ultimate reason i am here to begin with.

And it hasn't been difficult for you??? :plbb

Not saying you don't have more to learn, we always have more to learn, lol... just seriously, I feel 90-95% is commercial hatching numbers, so 85% to me is a high enough bar for smaller numbers... :)
