She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Today was the day that I had to choose which turkeys live and which die. Processing starts at 8 a.m. tomorrow so I won't be online.

Right now the "lucky" birds are:
Scooter
Son of Scooter (not sure if he will stay)
Big Momma the Broad Breasted Bronze
the old Golden Narragansett hen (she looks absolutely tiny compared to her offspring)
Baby (who ended up feathering in silver Narragansett)
Oregon Gray, a tom
a young Broad Breasted Bronze hen rescue with bumblefoot that won't resolve
a Standard Bronze hen (who I am keeping only to make color combos, she is too small but the best of her kind)
a huge and beautifully proportioned Bourbon Red hen.

I am torn between Son of Scooter, who is a Golden Narragansett who is already taller than his sire and will continue to fill out, and a beautiful Standard Bronze tom who towers above the others with wonderful conformation and color. The Standard Bronze is a brother to Oregon Gray. If I were to keep the Standard Bronze tom I'd lose some potential to hatch Narragansetts.

The tough part is that the decision is final.

A Silkie? She'll probably be fine... mine kept trying to stuff the chicks back under for 3 days after all the eggs were done hatching... they really get into the 'setting' mindset... just put food and water close after they start so the early ones can get to it...
Out of Ovations again, but that is gorgeous!!
Corid won't hurt if they don't have cocci... if it was me, I'd still run a course just to be safe... especially if shes still not eating or drinking...
Sulmtaler... ;)
He got some of the cutest this batch, lol... maybe I shoulda kept those... :gig
I have no problems peeling fresh eggs... boil water first, drop them in, when done I shock them in very cold water... as soon as I can pick them up without burning myself, I crack it over the aircell first, roll it sideways and the shell pops right off... easy peasy... :)

Those were some cute chicks!
And its the duck eggs I have the hardest time peeling :/

Heyla, hon!! :hugs

How's the flock doin'?
Like Outpost said, Cayugas... and Turk has some she's waiting still for them to start laying...

I'm just glad you got some cute little duckies finally!! :)

They are doing good. Haven't lost any in a few weeks. Not laying any eggs though......slackers. I felt so embarrassed the other day when I had to buy eggs at the grocery:oops:

I mean really, I've got over 100 chickens! That would be like a dairy farmer with 50 head of Holstein cows buying milk:/
