She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

You have some nice looking youngsters!

I don't have any Blue or Black, but I have EE pullets from my chicken genetic cesspool with the colors of the other three.  Feet vary wildly...the same parents throw gray, willow, white and yellow feet.

Haven't figured out where I'll put the EE's yet, but if you want any of their eggs, let me know... they're a different kind of EE as the mom was pure blue Am and dad was a tailed Araucana... :)

As you know, I am not a purist when it comes to birds, until I come up with an exceptional specimen then I try to figure out how to start a breeding program with ONE of them (like my Oregon Gray). The chickens will be for fun, I would be very happy to grow out any combination to see what they turn out like. And girls will go into the laying pool to add color to the baskets.

I hope to get a few more eggs out of my old gold Easter Egger who may actually be an Ameraucana as she was purchased as. Her babies are wonderful, but she's about 4 now and eggs were scarce this year.

Walnut, how well do those big eggs from older hens hatch? I wanted to hatch some from my old (2 yr.) Ee, but they didn't hatch. I'm finding that the X-L or Jumbo eggs don't hatch well.

I don't have too much trouble with the size of the egg, other than that I need to leave them out to get the air cells a little bigger before setting to keep the chicks from being too wet at hatch, unless the shell is porous.

I did notice the older girls have really fluffy butts post-molt, and that may impact fertility. Also hens without tailfeathers seem to have lower fertility, I think the roos need the tailfeathers for good access.

Glad you like them... knew you liked mixes, too... just trying to get a nice varied assortment together for you that's worth your awesome turkey and EE/OE eggs... :)

Sorry for the photo quality, but I had to rush processing as we are now expecting 5-8" of snow tomorrow and needed to beat the weather. Here is a "low grade" bronze dressed out. Note the prominent keel:

Turns out this bird also had a severe roach back, it won't lay flat on the table! It should have been a cull. Oh wait...I guess it is!
