Anyone with experience with bleeding pin feathers in babies?
Only theory, no practical knowledge...![]()
I've only had a broken pin feather in an adult, but it seems like it took forever to stop. I'd hold pressure (pinched it shut) and it would stop for a while until it got bumped or pecked at by another chicken.
So you might want to hold pressure on it and isolate the chick behind a screen if possible. Others may have better advice though.
Good luck!
Love having chicks pipping. I still have at least 4 more days
Corn starch got the bleeding to stop. Keeping an eye on it. Not sure if I should put some blue kote on it just in case. I want to avoid the 1 hour drive to the vet and the $80 fee at all costs.

These are the first ones to hatch from my own babies. It is exciting all over again .
If it's in with others, I'd put the blue kote on... if isolated, then I wouldn't worry about it... glad you got it to stop... have never gotten cornstarch to work for me so I have quick stop...
Was thinkin bout you the other day... how is everything, besides the lil bleeder?
It sounds like you have got it under control.
