She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Ruby, I have my Brinsea set on 100.4 to keep the Spot Check at 99.6 at top of the eggs. I was surprised when I put the Spot check in there and had to up it that much. That room stays a little cooler than the rest of my house though.

I have one set at 100.0,the other is good at 99.5
I know I'm going to die for this WV I love you little sister you too Ruby and you Amy and you Too Ravyn.

There is a 40% chance of a wintry mix here Monday, calling for a high of 40. By Sunday afternoon you won't be able to find bread or milk without driving to FL

How're Katherine's eggs now???

I actually got a decent sized small one the other day, and candled it, and it looks like it has a yolk, but I didn't crack it open. I'm still not sure whether its hers or not, but the color was a little different, so I suspect it is. I was actually debating on throwing it in the bator too, since I've seen Armand mating her recently.

So our new chicks refused to stay in the brooder making a disaster of the basement (hubby says never again will birds be allowed in the house

). So we had no choice but take them to the coop. They are terrified of the hens who won't let them eat or drink

. They spent about 2-3 days in a xl dog kennel in the coop (they had their own food & water) and only let them out under supervision. For the past week they have been out but the trio stay together in a corner or the opposite end of the roost far away from the hens. The past couple days have been really cold

6 weeks until spring my butt! I found the rooster out in the run alone (well besides the ducks) standing on one leg shivering. So I brought him in and made sure he had some food & water. Not sure if this is frostbite or an injury.

I am going to some how section off a piece of the coop with fencing until they can start getting along better. I am not sure this is just trying to re establish the pecking order, the hens dont like the cockrel or if they are just bored. The new ones seem to be very timid and not very vocal. Ugh I will never again hatch in late fall ever again!

How does that hold up overnight?

Yes, hatch just finished up. Kinda a long story but I bought a dozen silkie eggs at a poultry show from a breeder, who I won't mention by name but she is one of the best in the country...a national champion. Well 3 of us that bought a dozen that day stayed in touch throughout the hatch. All anxiously awaiting this "amazing" stock. Well out of 36 eggs combined we only got 4 chicks!! (I got 3 of those). The eggs were a bust! And the chicks look like an average silkie chick. Very disappointed with this breeder. But I also set some other eggs we won at the show and all the ones that developed hatched. So here's pics of my first D'Uccles, 1 Cochin, and 1 GLW.

@WVduckchick

That's a shame about your hatch. Good you have something. I add the water right before bed and it lasts all night and then some.

:lau. Love it!!!

Sorry for your issues, OMC... we've got ducks everywhere, so I feel your pain...

Looks like a bit of pecking and frostbite, but that's just a guess...

Yea duh, my #1 enabler!

My only issue is space. Depends on how many quail eggs are good, and how many good silkie eggs I decide to put in. If I have room for that little one, it will definitely go in!

And x2 to OMC .
