They are pretty, but I've heard they are quite expensive. I'll keep my eye out though, thanks for the suggestion!

Well it looks like you might have a new connection that could be less expensive.![]()
When I started with my Spitzhaubens I looked just to see how much it would be to introduce a new line because one of the biggest problems with American bred Spitz is that they all basically come from the same original line brought over here. This has diluted the blue in the leg coloring and often the crests aren't front facing as they are supposed to be. Mine the crests are great, but I'd love to have darker legs. They have good coloring, don't get me wrong, but I'd love to breed the leg color back in darker. When I looked for a breeder, not a hatchery stock, that had new lines, I was like. I don't remember just how much they were or even the breeder, but they were up there.
I hatched out 11, but those suckers are hard to tell boys from girls, so I wanted to keep 4 girls and 2 boys, so I picked out what I thought were 4 girls and 2 boys. I sold the other 5 which I was sure was 4 boys and one girl. I ended up with 5 BOYS and 1 girl!!! lol So I only kept one boy and the girl, so at this point I only have the one pure pair and the roo is my roo over all the birds in that coop. If we don't move and stay here or I find a place I can continue to have chickens, I plan on getting more eggs this spring if the girl still has them and trying again. I want to have my mixes, plus the pure Spitzs and some quality silkies/SGs.Post some pics of yours, huh? How many do you have?
