I'm waiting, I HAVE to since I can't see into the future, I have a hard enough time seeing into the past.

So just curious, for large fowl birds, how big do you get let the eggs get before you set them. I have a bunch of pullets that started laying a little over a month ago (First ones started at Christmas, but I'd guess on average they've been laying for about 6 weeks). They are covered by two dark cornish roosters. Right now, the average egg I'm getting from them ways about 47-49 grams, so would be in the small/medium range. Do you think I'll have an increased risk of hatching complications at that size?
My last hatch last year were my pullets'. I believe I said they had been laying 4-6 weeks? Most were decent size but I fretted over the silkie and polish the whole time. I think SC smacked me twice a day because I was fretting...lol Best hatch I have had so far and all healthy as can be.that was funny!![]()
This is just my personal experience and it was with bantam eggs not large fowl but I hatched pullet eggs no problem. And they were definitely on the small side. The chicks hatched fine and were healthy. I read so many mixed things about it. I even had someone tell me that you can't set eggs until the hen is over a year old. I did a test batch and they were fine, so I kept hatching them.

No, get him a Barry Manilow CD!!I remember that, smacking you every day, telling you not to worry, then I had a bad pullet hatch in January![]()
Can't really blame that on the pullets, though. It was Johnny all along![]()
This weekend I'm going to build him a privacy screen, buy him some candles, a Barry White CD, and a bottle of tequila, then show him some pictures of NNs and let him have at it![]()
