She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

And still has a bit of attitude, I see!  (LOL)

Of course she does! She's spoiled rotten and knows she is my girl... :D ;)

Hmmmm, well, there's a LOT less veining in the membrane than I would have expected...

That is good! But don't let that make you think it's ready... Lady Greys veins receded the 1st day, but she still had quite a bit of yolk to absorb... it'll start struggling HARD when it's ready, just watch for it getting stuck...

LouLou my house duck took 5 days in an open egg....
I've never set perfect eggs in perfect condition. Usually the bator is for abandoned or damaged nests. This was the first time I had set from the beginning. So, every single hatch, assisted. (I like the punishment!) I was hoping for easy , with this batch....

Sounds like you have a handle on this then... :) but we're here for support and any help you might need...

Btw, I'm a severe glutton for punishment... ALL I hatch in ducks is Calls, lol... ;)

Support, band aids (when I start thunking my head off a wall), maybe someone to pour me a shot....
Maybe I'll start hatching calls next.

Are you saying (sorry, the typo "...on the incubator" is confusing me... if it is a typo) that you would REST them outside the 'bator until tomorrow AM (as you did), and then put them into the incubator and start turning THEN (as in tomorrow morning)? Or are you suggesting resting until tomorrow AM and then incubating tomorrow and then turning after 24 hours?

I plan to turn by hand and have them in cartons that whole incubation: we'll see about lockdown when we come to that point.

Sorry if my post was a bit confusing. I received my eggs on Saturday around noon. I put them in the incubator early Sunday morning but did not turn them for 24 hours. Monday morning I turned my turner on. There are so many theories of how to mitigate shipping damage, and truly I'm not convinced any of it works. This is the method I'm trying with this batch. Last batch I waited until later to turn, and lost half of the ones I locked down. I'm wondering if I waited too long to turn and caused poor CAM development. Just a theory. (29 set, 11 locked down, 5 hatched.)

I snuck a candle of a few today, day 4. The ones with the worst damage aren't growing, and some with the best and smallest air cells have growth.( No surprise there!) Homegrown eggs look good.
