WOW, Lots of information but VERY confusing, because now it leaves you with the question, OH which way do I go? Which way is going to work of me. It's up and down information, and the low of 30% I would disagree with, I have kept mine at 20% and still successful hatchings..
and I just skim through it.. LOL I'll have to take my time and read the entire thing..
Funny, cause you are the first person, that couldn't gleem the info given. It's about finding what will work for you. You can disagree with it all you want. It's written from the stand point of I only run dry if it stays above 25% because it is what I find comfortable. It gives a guidline to start at. It doesn't get any easier than that. You start at a humidity number, you check the fricken air cells and you adjust by what the air cell is telling you.
You've criticized our friendly game of "what kind of hatcher- red/blue-in between" are you, you've criticized many of our choices of what we choose to hatch at between this thread and the hands on thread, you've felt the need to tell me how to turn my eggs when I frickin already know how to turn my eggs, and now you feel the need to criticize a blog article that has helped many people understand humidity. And I'm not saying this cause I wrote the frickin thing, but I'm just sick of being poliet so I don't look psycho, both of these threads, this thread and the hands on are for the purpose of sharing what our experiences are with other hatchers, this one particulary is for showing different hatching methods and that many things work. You don't have to agree and you can share what works for you, but OMG. Hatching at 75%-85% works for me-SUCCESSFULLY, but three times on three different people's posts that stated they hatched out at 75-80 you had to make it loud and clear that's good for us it doesn't work for you. You give people advice based on what works for you-great!! That's what I do. And you will note-I always say different things work for different people, you find what works for you and go with it.
I think it's great that there are people willing to jump in and help, you're one of them, but I have to be frank and say, the criticizing everything is getting a bit too much. The fun is being sucked out. Ok, now I am done being psycho for the moment now that's off my chest.

Just a teeny tiny bit curious, are you?  I candled last night, but didn't mark any thing.  There is definitely some life in there, a few with decent veining.  Some with wispy veining:  those may be destined for early death.  Interestingly, one of the Am eggs that I slapped a piece of packing tape over an indent that was about 1/8" x 1/2" is growing!  Some of the air cells are showing well now.  A lot of saddles, jiggles, sliders.  One turkey may be alive.

The turkeys take a little while to detect veining. My girls are setting on eggs, so no more for a while.I am so sorry about the loss of eggs. Hoping you will have something hatch.

The loss of eggs was TOTALLY not your fault. Blame it on the USPS, and honestly, I can't even blame them... Packages get tossed around. Unless they are hand delivered, it's a fact of life. The fact that there is any veining showing up at all is IMO a miracle.

So a nice woman called me for some silkie chicks. She left a nice message and when I called her back to find out how many chicks she was interested in, she wouldn't give me a straight answer. Then she says she only wants female silkies. So I explain that silkies are difficult to sex but I can call her in a few months when my young ones are old enough to determine females from males. But she says no, that she only wants little chicks. So I tell her that I don't DNA test and that I do not know how to vent sex. And she says that I can easily tell the sex of chicks in a very non-invasive and free way. She would like me to get a needle and a string and hold the needle over the shoulders of my chicks. Keeping my hand perfectly still the needle will move in a circle if it's a girl and in a straight line of its a boy. She wants me to practice on my other pets and/or children and once I preform this method she will buy my female chicks. I'm not going to call her back, I'm afraid if I did do this and sold her sexed chicks she would be dropping off a few roosters on my door step in a few months! :gig
