She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

I'm posting my initial guesses on my 3-week old silkie/cochin mixes here. In order of hatch, by color-coded zip-tie on their leg:

1.Light blue - smooth blue - straight comb - female
2.White - smooth black - walnut comb - female
3.Black - frizzle black - walnut comb-female
4.Dark blue - smooth blue - straight comb - male
5.Green - frizzle blue - walnut comb - male
6.Yellow - frizzle black (5 toes) - straight comb - female

I may be a little hopeful on a couple of the sexes :D

my lovely Brinsea Octogon will for SURE be going back to Brinsea. day 12 of my second set of eggs and the temp dropped again. This time down to 97 degrees.

Please tell me al 18 of my fertile growing eggs are not toast?

Help...........

Just randomly dropped temp? Drops in temps won't hurt them like spikes will, so you should be fine. How long was it low?

Someone recently on another thread did some candling, then didn't get the lid back on completely, and temp didn't come back up. Any possibility something like that happened to yours?

no it was my fault. The first time I used the Brinsea, the temp would not hold a steady 99.7 degrees. It was fine for the first 4 days. then it went down and I kept having to adjust it up a little at a time. until day 17. then it leveled out and I didn't have to touch it.

This time I made sure I had the 2 added thermometers calibrated perfect, and was SUPER careful thinking I might have done something wrong. Day 1-7 or 8 it was fine! held perfect. it started to drop to 99.3 and I turned it up a little bit. went up to 99.7 ok. next day dropped again to 98.9. then instead of turning it up I turned it down accidentaly. Saw the temp. drop even more and adjusted it even more.... the wrong way.... it hit me last night out of a total sleep that I turned it DOWN and not UP. I was up and turned it back up asap, but it was at 97.9 for at least 14 hours.

It wont do me any good to call Brinsea until these little ones are out of the bator alive or dead in a week. The darn thing will not hold a steady temp and this is on the second hatch, so Im pretty sure its the bator (minus my turning it down instead of up)

Something must be wrong. My temp stays totally stable the whole incubation. Are you sure the black cord isn't getting stuck under the lid on the back?

nope. I have checked the cord and stuff multiple times. It has got to be the head unit. Top fits perfect and stuff as well.

What are the chances my eggs are ok though? will they survive a day at that low of a temp? These are my prized always dreamed of having White Sultan eggs.

I think they will be okay. Your hatch might be delayed a little bit and technically there are some other complications that can happen from low temps late in incubation but honestly, I think they will be fine!!

im just going to have Brinsea get me another one. there's no other option really. I have heard SO many good things about them that I don't want to just return it. I will try again.

This happened in one of my brinsea mini's. The temp totally plummeted on day 21 in the middle of hatch! Thankfully I had another one that I could squeeze them all into. I called brinsea and it was covered under warranty. I shipped it into them and about 2 weeks later they shipped it back all fixed up.
