She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Sidewing, I keep seeing you lurking, but not posting. Are you still high?
Yes! I'm at 4,560 today.

I have had meetings, kid pickups, and other distractions. My eggs are on day 7 tomorrow so I'm trying not to candle until then. Last I checked I had 5 or 6 that looked ok. All that Mahi talk this morning made me dream of a mexico trip again. We caught those off a 21ft boat. It's tough being landlocked here in UT.

It takes a lot of lurking just to keep up with this thread!

So I opened the one incubator that had just 2 chicks, to take them out and put them in the brooder. The other 5 eggs in there have not pipped yet. I candled real quick and saw no movement. Can you see movement this far along if they are alive? I have a feeling they're all goners. We will see....

Not necessarily. They get so big and full, sometimes its hard to make out movements. Don't give up on them yet!!!!! Its just day 21, right???

Yeah team purple!

You did great! Need a pic for proof now...

So sorry about your polish. I know I read your original mention of it a while back, but I overlooked saying I'm sorry. What happened to it? Good luck with the new chicks!
And please don't take this as critical, or anything personal, but I have to ask... FBCM... I read something about the F. French Black Copper Marans, right? Something to the point that they are all French, so adding the F is unnecessary?? I really don't remember the extent of it. I do remember thinking the comment was a bit petty. But I didn't ask. So now I'm asking. Is there a difference between BCM and FBCM?
They are french, but here in the states the designation of "F" implies that they have feathered feet. The US adopted the French SOP, which calls for feathered shanks. The British SOP is clean shanks.

Many Marans people don't use the F. I think some people do to describe the feathered legs from the French standard vs clean legs from the English standard. But American Marans have the feathered leg standard, so the "French" isn't necessary. I don't use it, but I only have 1 BCM now.

Yes, Ma'am. I will keep the incubator going for another 48 hours.

It just feels like they should have at least pipped by now. Last egg with a pip is zipping now!! Did you decide on an incubator? (Go with Brinsea!!!)

I would love to fish anywhere south of the US. Heck, even south of GA. Here in SC, you have to run 70 miles to hit blue water. In FL you can catch mahi within sight of land. The closest to shore I ever caught one was 38 miles

See I was under the impression that French Blacks have boot and just Blacks do not. I could be wrong so...yeah! LOL!

Well I did not read far enough down where others have explained it.

That's a long way in a boat.

We could talk about the chicken of the sea. :-) it's delicious fresh.
