She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Sounds like a pip to me.

I'm assuming by now you've caught up...lol

No. The membranes were dry and leathery. The chicks themselves still had a degree of moistness when I "uncurled" them, but not overly so. No, they shouldn't have an amber colored stickiness.
Good for you on the eggtopsies. It can be hard especially in the beginning. Pat yourself on the back, but remember if it's too hard to do them, don't make yourself do it.
Yes, I use the same bedding in the boxes as the floors, that's a good place to start. Thanks for the thought. I wanted to use straw, but there was none to be found when I moved them out, maybe now I can find some, and try that.

That's interesting.
Have not had a chance to catch up yet. I am at work and will be up all night. I will be caught up before morning I hope.

Two weeks until my next hatch. What was I thinking? I can't go that long without seeing something hatch!

I think I am going to continue to set turkey eggs while they last.
just
I moved my eggs-in-progress to the Leahy for the day. I am going to partially disassemble my cabinet and make some changes. One thing I will do is reverse the air flow, and another is to move the water pan up top. I'll then have to move the humidistat sensors, and add a water filling door in the top, and add top rear ventilation. These changes may give me the results I want for hatching.

well is it done that was eleven hours ago I've worked on coops all day and just finished moving chickens around I'm beat. What your going to do sounds like a complete rebuild .got that farm girl fix it thing going in a big way huh.

Does any one vaccinate their chicks if so what do you generally vaccinate for?

the problem is finding vaccine without a getting it from a vet and finding a who vet who treats chickens . most chicken killers are virus's that there are no vaccine's for that I know of. you would be amazed how many people think treating with antibiotics is vaccinating around here. I've asked the same question many times. I even called my county agent they told me to call somebody in Ala. who I could never get . not many med's are geared for small chicken producers either not even at TSC. call your county agent maybe you'll have better luck than me if you do let me know what you find out . btw what about the chick with the cyst did it get better or culled.

I have chirping eggs!!! But no external pips, that I can see from a tiny lift of the wing. so how long now? Lol I'm starting to feel desperate!

And congrats wvduckchick! Well jel!

I still can't hear any chirping but this one little guy has hit the egg a couple good times. The other little spot on another egg that I thought might be a pip isn't doing anything. I think its just a thin spot on the shell.

Chickiedoodahs are you sure there isn't a hatched one under her? They have at least internally pipped if you hear chirping. Shouldn't be much longer now!
