She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Yes you can, and the thread that someone linked in here last week was what brought the subject up for me. Check it out, it was an incredible story with a happy ending. The thread starter even ended up on the local news, and posted a link to see the news story on the thread. Imagine this happening to your own flock

If you try and roll that egg over, I will personally drive to WV and :smack  you myself

I said I rolled it just enough to get the pip from touching the floor. I did it through a vent hole, so no opening of the bator. I think I saved its life, if it makes it still. I have rubber shelf liner under them. It may have been in a grid hole, but it could easily have suffocated. So you go ahead and drive your butt up here and I'll gladly accept that smack.

I've been going back and making sure I didn't miss any posts over the weekend. That's two of my name choices that you have discounted. All of the thought that goes into coming up with just the right name, and you blow it off like it means nothing:rant

Guess I'll just stick with Fluffy and Doodles :gig

I thought you picked Daisy? That's what I'm calling my other silkie. Molly and Daisy :tongue

Ok I *might* be going a little chicken nuts but I couldn't help my self but play the chick peeping vid to the nest box just now and then I heard a crack and the broody started gently clucking... am I going nuts or do the shells make a noise when they crack a bit? Haha I think I may need a chicken free break after the next few days :/
I was too scared of getting slapped for looking so just came back to the house to tell everyone my non - news that I may or may not of imagined in my chicken haze!

Your first smack is good for two days. I have decided you are a hardcore Team Red member, and will defer all further advice to Amy :gig

Playing chicks peeping to a broody? Ok, I lied
:smack

Well seen as I've had 2 smacks I may as well go check the nest hahaha joke, it's bath and bed time in our house... no peeping for at least another hour lol
Anyone else heard an egg crack? Or have I spent too much time in the sun?

All clear here, too. Wasn't that an amazing story? It was so cool to see the thread start, then John end up on the news
Very cool.

Thank you!!

I hear it from my bator from time to time...lol You're not crazy. It's usually when they are zipping and pushing.

I had something similar that I bought from TSC for my first d'uccle pair. It was decent as a coop but I built a more sturdy coop and bigger pen after a few more hatched. It wouldn't last as a full time coop, but it is a phenomenal brooder

That's good to know! Do you brood inside or outside?

Well I just noticed another pip. Pointing straight at the floor.

I could just see the tiniest speck of white below the egg, so I stuck my straw through the vent hole and barely rolled it enough to get it off the floor. This egg is also positioned to where I can shine my light through the window and actually see the air cell. This was the smallest egg and has the most sloped air cell. Its now lucky if it is half chick/half air cell!! But I did just see it knock off the tiny piece that was touching the ground, so maybe there is hope!! Polish added another little line to its crack. And I heard someone chirp!! Lol

Is the pip in the wrong end?

You seriously need to incubate eggs in your house, in a small plastic Brinsea incubator! You get to pull up a chair and watch every single thing that happens with a full view! It's amazing!! You will love it! And you won't have to keep going outside wishing your broody was transparent!! ;) I can feel your excitement!...it's addicting...time to start shopping for an incubator! :hugs

And this is why I am not interested in having a broody hen, no matter how much easier it is...lol
