She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Aren't you using a brinsea? Octagon? Mine are usually more uniform beause the eggs are incubated upright, but not quite perfectly even

No, I'm using the Brinsea Mini. The eggs lay flat on their side (the cool thing is that they tell you to specifically lay pea eggs on their side instead of upright), so I kinda lucked out there. I was thinking is it because they are local?? Probably not. Idk!

My duck eggs sloped more, but my LOs were mostly flat. I was worried too. This last hatch was about half and half, sloped and flat. I wonder if could have anything to do with the "freshness" of the egg?

Also this last hatch, as I marked air cells, I noticed some would grow toward one side, then the other. And some would always increase the same direction! I wish I had charted the results to check the hatch rates of the ones that did that.

Who had the snowbird neighbors that didnt like the rooster crowing? I saw this on another thread and thought of them!
That was me!!! However I would love to say I live on a farm but I live on an island and technically I am not allowed to have a rooster unless I have a minimum of 2 acres and I only have .4 LoL!!!! So if they complain to the county then I will have to get rid of them. I am just praying they dont and deal since I got the crow collars. They just an 6 or 8 ft privacy fence installed so help block out sound!! lOL!!!!

All of the glowing reviews of Brinsea, and you guys get one bad one and tuck tail and run? Let me put it this way, I have run heavy equipment all my life, and now I supervise a whole fleet of heavy equipment. When I tell someone to do a job that I know can be done, and they say their machine won't do it, I say "Maybe it's the operator"

Sometimes that's all it takes is ONE!!!! LOL!!!!!

One egg rocking and a rolling and a chirping this morning. Today's the day I hope!

I have noticed in my experience that when they are rocking and a rolling that means another 2 days or so. They seem to slow their roll and then start business. But that is my opinion.

Thats cool!!! I thought about getting the mini to start and see what happens but I wanted to hatch more at one time and not go to expensive. But I am going to save up. Or make my own! Not sure yet. Trying to find an old wine cooler thats broken.

So exciting! I love hatch day! It makes the 21 days so worth the waitt! How many eggs do you have set? And what breed?
14 eggs set. They are from a Barred EE project. They were shipped to Utah from Illinois. ALL 14 made it to lockdown.

ooo I hope so I hope you get to see some hatch'n action :)
Me too. Could be a while still.

Didn't you build your incubator? Can you give us the numbers again? Original set and how many made it to lockdown
Yes it's a Frankenbator. If this hatch goes well then I will post pics. Its different than most DIYs. IF it doesn't go well then I'm buying a freaking BRINSEA!

Just kidding.

Woohoo! You might get to see some before you leave! Sweet!
That's what I was thinking. I'll bet I catch the first 1/4 to 1/3 of the hatch and then bite my nails waiting for text updates from my daughter.

I'm having the same struggle with which way to go! I really want to build my own, but I really want a Brinsea too... Dangit... would doing both be really really bad?? Probably so.

Wow, that's excellent to have that many shipped eggs ALL make it to lockdown!

And that's hilarious! Kids are always texting unless you really need them to answer you. Then its like they fell off the face of the earth. Drives me insane! I bet your daughter will keep you posted though.

Yeah that is fantastic to not only have 100% fertile and make it to lockdown but being shipped eggs. I think you hit the incubator lottery with that one

A lot of other threads will fuss if you ask a question that has already been asked, or could be searched. We aren't like that. If you have a specific question, it's much easier to just ask the question than it is to try and search a thread, then search that thread for the answer. There's no way anyone will read the whole thread (well, except sjturner

, that's got OCD written all over it

You're right probably...... not!!! LoL!!!!!   :lau  My husband would be concerned of my addiction I think at that point!!! LOL!!!!!:gig

My husband is already concerned! Lol but I think if I get him to "help me" build one, he might be more sympathetic. He can build anything, so I almost have him talked into it. Its jusy finding the right contraption to use...
