I just wanted to update real quick. The charcoal/carbon moisture control stuff I picked up at the dollar store took my inside incubator humidity from 55% to 25%! I am so pleased. I only used a small cup of the stuff. Probably over a dozen cups in the actually container. Loving that it only cost $1 and worked amazing!

Wouldn't uncooked rice work? Or one of those ceramic pucks you put into a jar of brown sugar?

This also reminds me. I meant to try this thing out, but ended up setting eggs last time, before I tried it. Now that my bator is empty, I'll try it. Its made for gun safes, but I think our guns will survive long enough for me to test it in the bator.. http://www.libertysafe.com/accessory-desiccant-moisture-absorber-ps-16-pg-18.html

Thanks for the link WalnutHill, that was a really informative article on caponizing. Now I just have to find the tools...I checked eBay.ca and Kijiji (our CL) and found nothing...;-[

but the rib spreaders appear pretty useless if you don't have an assistant.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Weitlaner-R...349?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a20ba821d these are real veterinary rib spreaders, and the smallest size I found. They lock so you can use both hands for the task at hand.

I read somewhere that MyPetChicken sells them.

I tried uncooked rice. Did not work (no change). Then I tried unpopped corn and humidity actually increased 5%.

Sorry I didn't see you had replied. My phone does not update the thread. I have to keep going back to my subscriptions and reopen the thread. It's a pain in the butt!

Same here!! Wish they'd update the mobile to do like the desktop does!
(I don't go back to subscriptions though, I just refresh the page)
