By the the time I grow out the Ameraucanas I could sell my EE flock for a profit and have REAL Ameraucanas. I like that idea.

I would do the same thing on my end. Sell off these marans as dark egg layers and start over with yours. Sounds like a good deal to me.

I really want to do a couple dozen for free. I wouldn't feel right selling the first ones, having never shipped before. It will be an experiment that may pay off for the participants, and I don't have to worry about you guys selling my chicks in my area

Took out 2 more hatchlings to the coolerbator to dry off. Checked the last three eggs. The upside down strange one stopped developing between day 16 and hatch and cooled down quickly. The other 2 have not internally pipped but still held their heat and the eggs look full up so I have put them back. Technically day 21 will end at 530pm.
Some bugger placed a bid 2 minutes before the Ameraucana eggs auction ended. I wasn't having that and increased my bid and got them for $32.00 with $8.00 shipping from florida, so not too far. I will probably be up for some more next spring SC. As out of 10 5 of them will be roosters and I didn't have too much luck out of the last shipped ones. I did get the 3 turkey poults that I wanted though.

I almost bought 6 LPs for $150, but decided to see what the ones I have throw. If I don't have better birds by next spring, then I will buy expensive eggs, but I think I would lean more toward the Davis line for the egg color. I think that's what sideWing is getting. Speaking of which, hey sideWing! Maybe in the spring we could swap BCM and Ameraucana eggs?

My only reason for not doing CCL is the autosexing. It's hard enough to get rid of roosters straight run. If they can be separated at day 1 I'm afraid I would end up eating them all

Wow. You'd have to intentionally wet mine down to make it look like that cause they don't stay out in the rain....lol Plus they are so fat and fluffy it would take a lot of water...lol
