Thank you for that advice ! The duck was set the same day, but I will move it before lockdown. I did remove the water about 5 days ago and the humidity is running at about 30% since then. Just not sure whether to wait to add humidity until I see the first pip so that the eggs have more time to dry out a little or is that too late to add water. The Turn-X has a turner and fan. It is put out by "Lyon"

How much too small are they? Can you post any pics of the air cells? Either actual candling, or if you drew pencil lines, that would work too.

They are somewhere between day seven and day 14 as for size. Since they are dark brown, I don't think the camera would pick it up.

I kind of am not sure how to approach lock down ... day 17 .... any advice would be great !!!! I am on my first hatch and I think I ran too much humidity during the first 2 weeks. I went to a swap meet last weekend and a person there told she runs a dry incubator. I am in northern CA.The air cell is still not much more then a what it should be at about 10 day incubation. Any advice on trying to save these eggs ???

I agree with WV. I see you have already gone dry, that's good. I would push back lockdown a day as long as there are no pips an try to get them a little bigger. For future hatches I would try the low humidty incubation methods. I use this method and swear by it (as long asthe hatcher has an accurate thermometer/hygrometer and a steady bator) : http://letsraisechickens.weebly.com...anuals-understanding-and-controlling-humidity
I hope to have some polish pics for you soon

I am using a TurnX and the humidity was running about 50 to 55%. The temperiture has been running about 99.5 to 100. I am hoping I am not going to drown these babies. The eggs are Marans and one call duck egg. The eggs look dark so a little hard to read them, but I think alive, but I can see the duck is still alive and well.

Pics of the traced cells from the side view is best for us to give opinions on, (in my opinion....lol)

If they are all that small, I personally would wait at least one extra day, with the humidity low. Try to give them some more breathing space. Are they filling up the egg very much yet? I mean body wise? Sorry so many questions, I hesitate to make suggestions without knowing all the factors.

I wouldn't be overly concerned with air cell size, unless they are just tiny. I've had many that looked too small, but hatched just fine. Isn't the Roll-X another high dollar incubator? I'm curious to see how it compares to Brinsea.
On a side note, mega brooder is done and the three week old cuckoo marans are moved. Bring on the polish!

My air cells were too small with my last hatch. This is what I did: ran completely dry (which brought me to around 20%) and left it dry until I had my first internal pip. I'd incubated all eggs flat until lock down. At lock down, I put all eggs upright in egg cartons, but left the bator dry until I heard chicks peeping in the bator. THEN, and not until then, I increased the humidity to 65%. When I saw the first pip, I kicked the humidity up to 75%. Occasionally, when I had occasion to open the bator, I'd check the eggs that didn't show any pips. I caught 1 or 2 that had pipped on the bottom, or below the middle that way, and was able to re-position them to increase the likelihood that they would be able to progress. I had to do a bit of assisting on a couple: one which was messed up by my broody, and tho other was a low pip that failed to progress. Both assists were successful, and it was the best hatch ever. (22/23 that went into lock down.)
