She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

I have never heard that, and I wish more people knew. I never, ever refridgerate my eggs, and I think that's what puts uneducated people off about them. They see them on the counter, and they think "Oh my god, they'll spoil". Then you have to explain to them that since you aren't washing them in a commercial scrubber with 8 million other eggs, they will actually keep on the counter for 3 months, six in the fridge.

I was chit chatting with a dr a couple weeks ago about chickens and eggs and she said she would never buy local eggs because none of the sellers keep them refrigerated. I had to explain it and she looked at me like I was crazy! And this is a doctor, a highly educated person.

Do any of you folks wash your eggs? I was not planning on it. Unless they are dirty of course.

Me too never wash them at all not even eating eggs. I only pick the clean, well shaped and formed eggs for incubating. I too have the same problem as SC eggs do get dirty when it rains.

All other eggs just sit on the side waiting to be eaten. I figure the bloom on the egg will keep the dirt and bacteria out and I've had no problems with bad eggs.

I wish people understood the difference. I've had people bring them back because the yolks "had blood in them". They've never seen a healthy, orange yolk. The're just accustomed to the watery yellow

So I found a rule here in WV.

A small egg producer is any person marketing 150 dozen eggs or less per week of his/her own production.  As a small producer you must register with the state but you are exempt from paying permit or inspection fees.

I bet NY has some crazy laws. They make everything harder here. Red tape every time you try to do anything that involves making money. Now you have me curious...
