The 3 nearest the food simply stand, or lie, in place and barely move. The other three are rambunctious, but haven't figured out what is food or water yet as they continually pick at wood chips.

Well, between posts the one in the video that was just lying flat near the food and water has passed....sigh, so now 5/41

I need someone to offset my once a month testiness, take some pressure off the one time I got a little over-sensative.

Don't blame it on that. I got two outbursts in 2 weeks

Ameraucana is a totally different breed... I just like my roo, he is pretty awesome, still has some faults... (White in his face fluff, wings too droopy, white fluff at the base of tail) he also has the most pathetic crow... Really bad.

That really is a gorgeous Ameraucana. I have EEs, so I guess the pathetic crows carried over in the cross

My ee roo has a pathetic crow as well..lol Sounds like someone is choking him while hes tryng to crow...lol My nn has the perfect(ly annoying) crow and he's so cocky he struts and crows anytime anyone walks out of the house or comes in the driveway.
Me EE is in between the 2 marans roos. They have the most beautiful, deep, drawn out crows, then the EE screams at the top of his lungs. Kinda feel sorry for the little guy

So I am officially into day 21. Still no babies out. 3 pips, the oldest being about 17 hours. Its still working and chirping, so I'm still waiting. I hate this time when I tell myself I'm not going to do this again, knowing I'll change my mind, but goodness! @sideWing - the one that pipped toward the floor is also still alive. Its around 10 hours now, making a little progress, but I'm not overly hopeful for it. I hope it proves me wrong.

What is the deal with those chicks? Don't they know there's a parade at stake?
Well, my broilers probably eat as much as a hungry hog. But the trough is only a couple inches wide to prevent birds from hopping in and scratching. Tack an extra strip on the front if they figure out how to shovel food out.
I had ten cockerels left over from my last cuckoo marans hatch. I sold those little buggers for $2 each just to keep from feeding them any more. I have never seen 7 week old chicks eat that much. It's like they were scared someone else would eat it before they did. They could drain a 7 pound feeder in 2 hours

Chicken tv is getting exciting this morning.
After no progression for about 28 hours, and no way I was going to open the lid, I decided my straw was my friend. I used it to flake the pieces off the first pipper. Wetted the membrane with a q-tip stuck in the straw. And decided that was as much as I could do.

It finally started doing the rest. Its still working at this moment, but I believe its gonna make it. I decided I better type and get my hands out because pip #4 just became the #1 out! Yeah!!

The one I helped is in the front - half-zipped.

This is awful. I can't imagine that two hatches in a row. Are you sure you don't want to just wait until the 40 gets here to set the next batch? There won't be any need for chasing humidity or air cells. You can if you want to, but with that EX upgrade you will be on cruise control once you set the eggs

I am disappointed, but I am determined to figure this out, especially since I want to do both incubators at the same time in future to make up for these poor 2 hatches.

Then you're a better man than I am. I threw my LG away. Hopefully Amy and the other styro users on this thread can help you along with the next batch
