She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Thanks to all on my broody!! It's so exciting, but this not being able to watch them hatch is hard work!!

Could I just ask you how many roosters do you have and do you get any complaints. I have got 2 six wk old pekin bantams and 1 is definitly a boy I really want to keep him as I don,t have any other boys and I want to get a small flock of pekins ,kept seperate from my other hens I,m just wandering if I would be able to

Hi Yorkshire Could you please read my quote on page 693  number 6923 as I made a boo boo on the quotes and could you please reply

Congrats on your broody :celebrate  hope the rest get a move on for you :fl  the waiting game is so hard

I have two Roos and they do crow constantly pretty much. They are competing with each other though so that's why I think they do it a lot. With just one I think you would be ok. I buy my neighbours silence with eggs!! I live in a country village though so it's not too bad. Not like I'm in the middle of a town or anything.
What are your laws on keeping a roo?

I,ve not really checked yet, I will tmoz I live in a small village .Someone near me did have a rooster cause I could hear it when leaving our house but never heard it when I was indoors I don,t know which neighbour it is and wether they have got rid of it cause Ive not heard it recently maybe I,ll have to play detective and ask a few neighbours if they know anything

Thanks for that I was thinking that people could only complain if they was woken at the crack of dawn or is that me being naive

some noises aren't allowed in certain areas at any time of the day...such as a really loud stereo...so again, better check your by-laws.

I'm guessing he's using his phone this weekend. The mobile version doesn't show those. At least mine doesn't.

Ahhh...did not know that...thanks!

Hi everyone came in here today and started my eggs in incubator on Friday so am really interested in this forum. My eggs I bought from the internet from Ebay they are La Breese and are all different sizes. I X and O'd them and put them in a home made stryofoam incubator that I seen made on youtube... I have the temp. at apprx. 100 and though I've used 2 sm. bowls of water and one dish with a sponge my humidity is staying around 30-40 I've actually been misting in the bator each time I turn them too. I've had chickens years ago and decided just recently (since egg prices went up) to start trying to raise them again. I bought 4 hens (and a ?rooster? who died darn it) who are doing real well. Thus the hatching eggs....LOL

My rooster crows all day, starting at about 4:00am, and finishing around 9:00pm or so. Also, search on the term "no crow collar".

I love my crow collar. But he has now figured out how to crow with on and tight. So got to figure something out.

My snowbird neighbors complain when they hear him in the middle of the day while they do yard work. They don't even hear him in the mornings.

Welcome aboard @LKM1991 , I think 30% is just fine prior to your lockdown phase at Day 18...but you will need to figure out how you can get it up to, say, 65% during those final 3-4 days of your hatch. So experimenting now is a pretty good idea as the humidity is not a dramaticly important thing in the beginning.

Also check to see how fast your incubator recovers both heat and humidity when you open and close it. You will want to know that number so when you take chicks out towards the end you aren't loosing either temp or humidity for more than 30 minutes. Sorry to hear about the roo.

I saw your request for it. Is it still ex surgeon general? I am on mobile and can't see the titles.

Yup, they made me "ex-Surgeon General"

Well, they can't hear anything till they get their teeth in and hearing aid turned on...
