She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Wait until they feather out. They will blow up again and eat twice as much as the big chickens. Try switching them to flock raiser. It's not a necessity, but my juveniles love it

Ok. I bought a 50lb bag of grower but I wasn't sure if I should switch them yet because I believe it has lower protein then starter. But I'm already mixing it into the starter so they have a smooth transition.

Sebastian dances after crowing because he has a noise reduction collar on and is trying to get it off. He's over twice the volume without it.

I was wondering if he had a collar on because of the way his hair was flipping up. Too funny! He's a handsome boy!!

2 reasons... 1 they're using body energy to acclimatize instead of grow... 2 they hit that 'dinosaur' stage and always seem to take longer to grow out of that...
ok, I was thinking too, maybe because they are foraging now instead of sitting in front of the food dish, bored all day.

lol

I have a bunch of turkey poults in brooders that are now about a week old and they don't want to stay in their brooders.

I gave it to you in the ovation. I get in trouble when I do it out here

You have to be careful, auto-correct can get you in trouble sometimes!

I do the same. I used to use starter until lay, but I was having a problem keeping broody chicks out of the layer's food. I switched them all to flock raiser and gave free choice oyster shells in the pens

What about the medication in the starter?

:cd  lol

Oh, I know. I had to build a screen top out of hardware cloth for my peachick brooder. They were flying all over the house!

So although my hatch is not quite done I know my final stats.
30 set.
22 lockdown.
3 dead in shells no pips.
1 suffocated in shell after pipped.
15 live chicks(1 with some issues)
3 scrambled that I couldn't tell earlier.
Only 1 was not zipped by the time my birthday started but is 3/4 of the way around now.

That's part too, I forgot, lol...

What kind of grower? Different brands have different levels...
Purina flock raiser is 20%...

I have some wire to put over the top of the brooders but usually they don't start this till they are about 2 weeks old. lol
I have to go dig out the wire for them.
