She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

SC: Oh where to start??

Do you seriously have your wife's name on you? How sweet

Not making fun atall, I just find it funny you have her name and she has a butterfly.
You don't have to make fun, it explains itself. Men know that women are insecure and always need to feel reassured, that's why we get their permanent mark on us. Women know that we are dumb, and as long as there is something pretty to look at, then we are happy

Ahh. Okey dokey then.

Yup. Same happened when I was married. Haha.

This is for laughing

I have a solution for that scenario. Just going to add one word above it...
Ooh cool. Is it a fish? On your way to Asheville, drop some of those cotton balls off at my place.

Redfish tailing. The most beautiful sight on the water
Unless you live in Saluda or Hendersonville, I won't be passing you

I did. Here's the rundown:

7 remaining eggs

1 late quitter, looks like around day 14
5 fully formed DIS
1 not DIS. Pipped, partial zip, and shrink wrap. It either pipped on the bottom, or was rolled over before the chicks were taken out. Severely shrink wrapped. Was not assisted.

Also, the runt was dead when I got home, and another small one was on its back barely breathing. Rough night last night, so now I am left with 10, but the 10 remaining look to be very healthy. With the smaller chicks dying, and the fully formed DIS, I am definitely running 30% on the set tonight. My goal was at least 30 for the winter, so it's looking like back to back sets again. I hate having the losses, but at least I have more chicks now than I started with last year.
These chicks crave attention. When I put my hand in the brooder, they jump up on the heater and step onto my hand. I'm very happy to have the chicks I have, and this will be chalked up as part of the learning experience on BCM

So was the shrink wrapped chick still alive? :sick And did the chick make it that was on his back? After the next set with these BCMs you'll get a feel for how they need to be incubated and then you'll start hitting home runs with each set. I'm happy for the friendly, big-bottomed, 10 that you have! ;)
Oh yeah, I'm setting tonight at 9pm!! I'm excited we're setting together!

While the numbers are not great, the health of the survivors does sound great.  I'll go for quality over quantity any day, though I do want as many to hatch as possible to get the quantity needed to select the quality.

The behavior sounds very much like turkey poults.  They are the friendliest, most curious little things.  I definitely want some of your eggs come spring.

My weak poult died overnight, that leaves me with two project poults that are in good shape.  It's going to be hard raising just two...they may end up being imprinted no matter what I do as I don't have anyone I can mix them with in the coop until they are at least 8 weeks old.

Good luck with the 2!! :hugs

Okay....trust me Silkie I have said way worse on here caught by the filter.... that word is not bad..

What was the word? How did I miss it?

Just had a text from Glenda the post lady. She said, got your package here will be with you in an hour. Squeal!

:weee

I guess there is some truth to that. I've just seen it go badly too many times with friends (not to mention I was married once before I found my forever-man). I guess I just get my reassurance different ways! I always said the only name I would consider on me permanently is my son's. I have reconsidered, since my parents passed away, and would consider either of theirs now too, but that's it.

Yes, the shrink wrapped was alive. When I post a wrap up, assume the worst for any chicks with the details missing...
I hope you are right about the home runs. It took 3 sets with the hybrids to nail my parameters. I'm dropping my humidity 10-12% on this batch, so it will help me narrow that window. My temps are good, I just need to get the humidity down.
Not only are we setting the same day, but at about the same exact time. Amy will throw me a parade if I get 75%. Given the shipping troubles you had, I'll throw you one at 50%. How many are you setting?

Yes, there is always the chance it could go badly, and that is always in the back of a woman's mind. That's why we get a permanent, visual "property of" mark on us. That way you guys feel more secure. At least until the ink dries
