Glad he's getting better. That's pretty much what my hands look like after mixing coloring into my cake fondant....lol But by the way it sounds the food coloring comes off better....lol

LOL. I'll wear my coop cleaning clothes and maybe it will over power the smell of chicken crap if I spill it on me....lol

Which one? Neither of my roos in that coop (Gibbs or Elvis) are people aggressive. Elvis is the more skittish -don't want contact-non challenging roo. He's the one that was attacked. Gibbs is the let's try to mate anything, I'm the main roo in the coop. He's not human aggressive and until today I have never seen anything more than the occasional, I'm a roo, fluff up my feathers "do you want some of this" guy stuff, but I've never seen him outright attack my other roo or attempt to corner him. It was a total surprise.
Awe. Hope he feels better. That's cute.

I have no question Gibbs woud have killed Elvis if I hadn't interveined.

The "scalping" goes all the way around.

Now here's my question. Is there anything other than keeping it clean and using antibiotic ointment on it that I can do? Is there something I can or should give it for pain?  He is doing seemingly well. He doesn't act like he's on his way out.

My 2 polish looked similar. I moved them to the recovery pen for a couple of days...then I used Vicks vapor rub when the wounds were healed up and now the big roo's leave them be. They don't like the taste of vicks.

My cat LOVES vicks!! Anything with menthol in it. I have body powder with menthol in it and she will go crazy! Like cat nip crazy!

I let him off the hook for this afternoon, I didn't know if I'd have access or time, I have access, and stole the time from things I should be doing to prep for my meeting (I have to replicate the customer's contact center IVR so they can see how we do what they do now).

How many different breeds do you have??

"Breeds" is stretching it a bit (LOL) I started with a small layer flock of 3 Cream Legbars and 2 Olive Eggers: Cuckoo Marans X "Ameraucana". I've had them 2 1/2 years now, but lost one Legbar to egg binding. Since we moved to NM, I decided to raise Russian Orloffs as a hobby. So in April, I picked up 6 Orloffs and 5 Black Copper Marans, since you know, they were there and they were cute! 4 Marans got pounced by my dog, so I only have 1 pullet left and she's gorgeous! Only one of my Orloffs ended up being a pullet, so I pared down to the best 2 boys and got some more hatching eggs. The breeder also had Wheaten Ameraucanas, so I got some of those eggs, too!

So now I have my old layers, and my new flock - Which will be the Ameraucanas & Marans which will run together (still need a couple more BCM pullets) and my Orloffs.
