what it is SC Ravyn is like Walnut stays up way into the night both have posted at two in the morning more than once or twice. I try to turn in no later than midnight and both are still going . bet those catch up sleeps are long .

What catch up sleeps? Us old folk don't need much sleep, and ADD types can't sleep much anyhow. I stay up until my brain quits, then I sleep really well for 5 or so hours, then get back up with no alarm and go to work.

Hey Walnut - anything response from that CL listing?

Yep they jacked the price to $350, says it was a "typo", and that the old yellow box incubator was $529 new so they should be worth that much.

Have to pay me to take the LGs, not much demand for an Octagon 10, and the Octagon 20s aren't shiny new either. I offered $250 for the lot...I think that is reasonable, and as high as I'd consider going. I can walk away without second thoughts.

I think that's a reasonable offer. Let him get more from someone who doesn't know better if he can.

I know the lady that I got mine from had a couple of R-coms. Not sure if she listed them, but I can email her if you'd be interested. (she is a retired teacher, used them for classes, cleaning out her stock)

Oh crap, I forgot, she's way over south of Lake Erie.. The one you posted before, so that's too far away from you. Duh.

Being that I got my GQF AND a Brower brooder for $150, paying $250 for, if all the Brinseas work, 100 eggs of capacity is a bit nuts. But so am I, so it might make sense.

I understand nuts. I drove 6 hours round trip for $20 eggs! But I ended up with a nice contact, so nutty things have a way of working out sometimes.
Still can't believe you got rid of that cabinet bator! THat was nuts! Lol

Lmao you might not have a broody anymore. Not that I blame her for running and not looking back!
OldMissionChick: That broody who abandoned the egglets I gave her... that happened some time ago. I have a new Mama with 6 babies who are almost 3 weeks old. I don't know if it's the same hen or a different one.
New at posting pics. Sorry. I am hours away from day 18 and wanted to share this pic and get y'alls take on it.

the view (turning it 180 degrees) is completely opposite of what u see on the pic. It looks like a normal 17-18 day developed egg. I am also freaked out and that is why I am posting. When I twisted and saw this side of the egg and saw that there was movement I freaked out as well. I am at a loss.
tg: I'm guessing the movement you're seeing is the chick sloshing in response to you rotating the egg when candling. Time will tell.

I learned this through experience and this is just my guess but I think I know why you are seeing movement. If the chick inside has died and when you are candling, the movement from you gently twisting/tilting the egg will make the dead chick move. I had an egg like that and I swore for about 5 days that I was seeing movement, I finally figure out that it was moving as I was moving the egg. I cracked it as a test to see if I was right and it indeed was dead. I'm suggesting that you crack it but maybe this is what you are seeing as "movement". I have 3 eggs right now with nice veins but I was seeing that same type of movement and I inspected them close and it looks like they died in the last few days.
So I have to share this: We have this tree in our front yard that has this little bird house on it.

Well the house is being rented, but I never expected this tenant:

Amy, last summer there was a tree toad who had moved into a bird house at my Dad's camp. You're right, totally unexpected!

FYI. No progress on the pipped egg. Still same size hole on the shell and I dont hear the chick chirping like I did earlier in the day. Cause for concern? Do I intervene? Crossing fingers
They often rest after the pip before zipping.

SC: Awesome Roo pic. I'm not a judge of SOP, but, he's gorgeous. Personality is a big part of the picture, so if he's all you've got... you can certainly use him until something better comes along.

Yeah, I have a super old house and it was a beautiful piece of furniture as well as fully functional. But I thought 100 eggs would be more than enough capacity, which is why I bought 2 LG...er EZ Bakes, when I sold it...for about the same price. Then I sold those and bought the GQF.

The GQF is great so far, but if an Ova Easy shows up cheap, I'll be all over it.

Hey....you know this movie came out a year after I was born!!!???
So I have to share this: We have this tree in our front yard that has this little bird house on it. When I get 5 minutes to myself or get to talk to a friend I usually go out on the front porch and sit in my rocker (yes, I have a rocker on my porch) and have a cig while I talk. (I know!) Anyhow, Yesterday I noticed something hanging out the "door" but was too sidetracked to go check it out and the next time I went out it was gone. I figured it was a leaf or pinecone, something blew in and got caught up. Well, today I go out to sit down and it's there again so I hurried over to see what it was. Well the house is being rented, but I never expected this tenant:
Shame shame on the cig... (don't worry I say it to my hubby too!;) That is so cool!!! I love frogs.
You know, it just dawned on me, I now have progression pics of Tate :yesss:
He is so pretty!!!! You seriously have to send me some of his babies!!!!
Scots Irish, English, German and Danish... yup, I'm a mutt... :D Bev Davis and Wade Jean lines from Jean Blancato at Macoping Farm, NJ... she had just gotten a blue copper pair when she sent me the eggs... those chicks were hatched from shipped Marans eggs... actually got 7 outta 9 on those... :) And I have had the time of my life... ;) Oh, no you didn't... uh oh... Annnnd there it is... :th Nobody wants to see your quack... :smack
I'm Scottish Korean. How's that for a nice mix....:lau
Ok. Got one egg that started pipping at around 2pm. On Average, how long between the start of pipping and full zip? Sorry anxious first timer here....
Mine normally within 12 hours. If however they do not zip by 24 hours I begin my assist.
Going for more than a single round leads to more satisfying results though...
True words!!!;)
I love multiple hatches, but at my age I need a day in between hatch and set
These euphemism are killing me!!!:gig :lau
More bang for your buck... :D Oops, I didn't realize I found the Geriatric Ward... :old
:gig :lau
