:hugs It really is an addiction because I do it even when I don't want to! So, I've never seen an internal pip before and I was talking to Amy about it last month and she told me to just go for it, open and check the eggs real quick. Last batch I opened the incubator so much during lockdown because I'm dying to see an internal pip. Well, I missed them all and woke up to 3 external pips! Maybe this batch!! At least I don't feel so bad because I know I'm not alone!

I am trying really very hard to only candle on days 7,14 and 18. It has been painful. But I am managing so far. I will try and hold out until 9pm tonight for the day 14 update. I can understand the compulsion. You get the same feeling when you quit smoking. I quit a year ago july 1st, after 34 years. I tell myself if I can do that I can wait to candle. Lol.

Good morning byc. I use a 55 gallon drum that has a lid that for some reason is not a tight fitting one. I use this drum attached to pvc lines with water nipples for my chickens. I was wondering what you would recommend to keep the water fresh and sanitary. I have been adding some bleach once a week. I am not sure whether that's enough or not. I have ordered some oxine ah from amazon to use instead. I will also use this to sanitize all incubation equipment after a hatch. Looking forward to advice ??? I am wanting to run a buried water line out to the coops eventually.

they have water treatment at tsc use that and think about adding a pump to circulate the water through a filter . If I ever get un addicted to this thread I have all kinds of plans in my head for mine

Congrats on stopping smoking. I hope you aren't one of those dreadful "ex-smokers", which I say are worse than non-smokers! haha

How are your lavenders doing??

UPDATE....

My first egg that pipped yesterday at 2pm EST has yet to hatch, but I did see progress in the size of the hole. At least 3 other eggs (total of 14 that made it to lockdown) have also begun to externally pip, today is Day 19.

Thoughts, Comments?

My first pip last time was the 4th to hatch. On day 19 I wouldn't do anything. As long as he is moving, he knows he's not ready yet

Thanks and I don't think that I am a dreadful ex smoker. But I maybe...How would I qualify?
The lavender are doing great. They are really helping miss miracle. She is running around now eating and drinking. She is really tiny and she cries alot. I hope she grows out of it.
