LOL love this listing:

http://toledo.craigslist.org/grd/5145750639.html

I have hens for sale. I have 2 chickens that are laying eggs right now ($15each). I have 3 that will be laying in a month or two($10each). I have 3 smaller hens that won't lay eggs until the spring($5each). I have 3 silkie females, ($10each) they are laying eggs, one is very broody and setting on eggs now. I have 4 silkie males($5) surprisingly 3 of the males get along. I have a male rooster, he does not chase you. He isn't like most roosters, he is a little slow. he didn't form right in the incubator, but he has survived for over a year.

Oh Amy....

Tate looks 10x better than the birds in the ad. They should be buying from you!
The guy did have a few decent birds, and Tate was the best of the lot. The other 3 boys looked like the ones in the ad. Tate has a halo, but the others had straw colored hackles. I think my dark hens will breed well with that, and I'm ok with his size, but I don't know how hard it is going to be to get a correct comb. Did you see the Wade Jeane pic? Jeez, even his has Tate's comb

Ok thanks i know im not supposed to post in this forum but i couldnt figure it out lol. So at day ten i can candle them and if they are forming they shouldnt be hurt correct? And will a flashlight work as candling?
Honestly, that's what this forum is for. Ask away

The random insanity is just filler

A flashlight will work if you can block the light from escaping around the egg. One very simple candler is just a toilet paper roll with the egg on one end and the flashlight on the other.

You can candle at day 5-7, but details may be faint, especially if you don't know exactly what you are looking for. By day 10, development is more defined. A spiderweb of blood vessels will be the first thing you notice

Oh, I could show you plenty of those. And heavy in the rooster ads this time of year. What's funny is the prices they ask :gig
In this area, you are doing good if you can get $5 each for any rooster, and there are several free ads

That's funny because I just sold all my roosters today to 3 different people and I got 5 for each one. Lol!!!!

Oh, I've gotten $10 for roosters, but right now it's all about supply and demand. Everyone who bought straight run chicks, or couldn't sell their roosters, is trying to dump them right now.
I've said it before, but my best market for roos is Asians and Mexicans. A lot of Americans are squeamish about processing their own birds, but I have customers now that I just call when they are big enough to eat. When that hurts is when you have beautiful roosters that you know would be good breeders, but you know they will be Kung Pao chicken before the sun goes down. Hey, anyone that leaves my house with 5 roosters is a 5 star customer in my book

Ok thanks if i can see formation blood vessels they shouldnt be hurt then?

Blood vessels would mean they are starting to develop, but the high heat could still have caused longer term damage. There's really no way to predict, except to leave them in and see what happens. I believe 106 is usually more of a death sentence, but a whole day at 104 could be iffy... good luck! And please let us know how they turn out. That's the best way for us to help others!

So how did you find out your thermometer was wrong? I'm curious.

Out of ovations, so I have to say it here... should have used both hands on the flashlight
