She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

I grew up on 20 acres in the middle of bigger farms. As a kid, I mowed the front yard with a '47 Allis Chalmers Model B with a 5' Woods deck...no hydraulics, and crank start. I maintained the fencing on the horse pasture, maintained an acre of vegetable garden, managed the livestock (horses, ponies, beef), kept the meat and laying chickens, and had plenty of time to explore the creek and woods, fish in the pond, climb in abandoned barns and houses, and roam the surrounding fields and woods on horseback. 20 acres seemed so big then, 160 acres seemed like a whole world. We have a 40 acre parcel up north now and it seems small. But our house lot, at one acre, simply isn't big enough.

I can get another "real" tractor

this time one with hydraulics and electric start.

I'm checking zoning regulations now to ensure there are no livestock restrictions.

yeah I need one with a cab and air and hydrostat drive getting old two stage clutch is harder to push. back tracking catching up. lunch is over. I5 acres shouldn't have any but who knows

Here is the progress on my malposition hatch. I had to moisten the inner membrane as it looks to be stuck to the chick and also had to wipe down the egg a little as there was some dark yellow leakage (not much) but enough to wipe down. Humidity in the incubator is still a steady 70%. Thoughts? Am I doing this right? Still on day 20

Looks like you are doing just fine... remember, patience is key... and just watch the little bit of leaky gooey stuff doesn't go over its beak and suffocate it...

I've heard that once a coon has been caught and released, you'll never get it in another trap. You ever hear that? And yes, that was pretty mean of chicapee, wasn't it. But she got smacked for it!

For anyone that hasn't seen the new BYC calendar photo contest... take a look at some of the beautiful photography in these pictures!  Some awesome shots.

For chickens only -- https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/992641/2016-byc-calendar-your-pictures-needed/

The "other poultry" calendar is in my siggy line...  its got some great photos too.  The peacocks are phenomenal!

I'm on the mobile and can't see siggys or find the link. Can you send it to me, please?

Went and fetched the Brinseas.  I figured I'd test them before cleaning them, as cleaning will take a LONG time.

Both Octagon 20s are up and running with no issues.  There isn't much to them.  Once they are warm, I will check temps with the Spot Check.

The Octagon 10 needs a little fixing as the adhesive that holds the heating element to the shell came unglued, and the P.O. tried to force the tray out.  It's an end loader, unique design.  I just need to pull the element flat and restick it.

The Polyhatch will hold 36-42 turkey eggs.  This makes me very happy.  I really wish it was a Hatchmaster or Hatchmaker, but I can still use it for special incubation or just for hatching if remove the turner motor.  It's a nice design...silicone jacketed resistance wire around the perimeter of the top, nice high top, big picture window, and the turner is a flat platform under the eggs that moves slowly back and forth so the eggs incubate horizontally and rotate 48 times a day.  I've marked a set of nonviable turkey eggs and I'm testing the movement.  The eggs don't have to be handled to change from incubate + turn to hatch mode, simply unplug the cord to the base.  It's a thick hard foam shell, not the cheap EPS.  The ugly gold color even coordinates with my old GQF.  They are the same vintage.

I was going to ask for pictures of the octagon 10 but I saw you already posted them. They don't make that one anymore, right? Did the Mini take over that model?

If the Polyhatch holds a steady temp I will be keeping it.  The others I am perfectly willing to sell once I've cleaned them up and tested them thoroughly.

Are you just selling local?

And now we have 2!!!!! One is really black like all black and the other is not quite the same. They are both supposed to be Hmong Chicken.

Awesome!! Good job, girl! I didn't think the other egg was doing anything. Did it pip and zip quick?

Isn't that a great looking house I love the porch . one of the good things about my life is all weeks are good bad weeks you learn to take the bad with the good a appreciate the good that much more . share one with .you all have heard me  say my son has autism he's 22 and looks just like his uncle Ron my brother that died double heart break there any way last week he said mommy for the first time. that was a great day . Ben is for the most part nonverbal but has a laugh that lights up the world . he' the main reason I have stayed self employed . when things are going wrong with work I don't get upset because everything I run into can be fixed with time and money . while one part of my life is very hard .that part makes the rest seem so easy. enjoy Friday and all that comes with it we have sunshine today  :thumbsup

That's beautiful. Certainly puts everything in perspective like you were saying. :hugs I bet that made your wife's day!!
