BYC: My hubby says, "Everybody has a story to tell." Thank you so very much for telling a bit of your story. When we share our stories, it puts the trivial every day stuff into perspective. Because, when it gets right down to it, what's more important than people? I bet Ben does have a wonderful laugh, because it's a universal language that is understood by everybody. His next word will be Daddy!

Lost my Malposition hatch.

. Very sad i should have done more to assist it i think. Waiting on 3 more eggs. Out of the 14 that went into lockdown- just lost the malposition, and 10 have hatched.

Oh that is sad, my last malpositioned assisted hatch has been really hard work and she was the only survivor. Not yet a week old. 10 with 3 to go is excellent. Well done!

I said a male, not an @scflock ... you have your very own category...

Sorry you lost him. 10 is great though and good luck on the rest.

Congrats on all the hatching going on!

We took the bikes and rode out past the house, and a few more as well. Ran 100 miles there, around, and back.

If the 13 acres that are not mowed are dry enough for good pasture/hayfield, then it looks like we may have found our house. The branch of the river, which is a stream at this point, is about 10' wide and a foot deep with a gravel bottom and some brook trout, crayfish and minnows just seen from the road bridge. A couple of weeping willow trees overhang a bend, and there is a small patch of trees to offer shade for cattle and horse as well as provide a few sticks of firewood.

The barns are rougher than they looked in the pics, and may serve for a season before I build a nice, dry pole barn.

The listing says two car garage, but the residents have half a dozen cars and trucks scattered on the driveway, so I am thinking not.

Deer EVERYWHERE. Muskrat too.

Miles and miles of dirt back roads for my riding pleasure.

This could work...

That really sounds awesome. None of the others caught your eye?

One that was for sale definitely did. Nearly new log home on a hilltop, horse pastures and big shiny new stable. But the asking price was twice the one we are looking at.

There was another old farmhouse I took the listing info for, 1882 Gothic Revival influenced Victorian. Nice lot, nice horse barn, 10 acres, good road. But the house was rough structurally. Interior photos show it has all its original grained wide wood trim around the windows and doors. We'll take a look at it, and I will look for more listings now that we've seen the area and fine tuned the "desired" location a bit more.

The area the favorite house is in was "the" place to move to in the mid to late 1980s and 90s. While my county is where the auto workers lived, the next county west is where the auto executives lived, and the county just north of that is where the people who didn't have to work moved to. Something happened...you can see the results of all the money spent there, but the area is tragically depressed. That doesn't bother me, in fact I kind of like buying a house at the bottom of the market.

Just found a beat up vernacular farmhouse with 71 acres for less...

You are going to have so much fun looking and planning and dreaming! So hard to decide if you pay s little more for a house more "done" or pay less and renovate.

Sounds like you are in a good place and can pick and choose something that will be a great fit.

Enjoy the process!
