I have yet another ? lol, is it normal for the bator to smell slightly musty after only a day and a half? I know I scrubbed this thing good before I set the eggs but I just sniffed 1 of the vent holes (don't ask!) and it's got a musty slightly moldy smell already.

All babies are cute, imo. I actually hand raised baby skunks on bottles. Once they were old enough and one sprayed in the house, they had to go! It was time for them to go be skunks outside.

Nope, SC was just telling me the same thing, been doing research, they say use a non petrolem lube and like i said i cut it off for now, until i can do all i can do.

We all have some kind of baggage, and it really helps to share.   Being a caregiver is really hard, and you need to take care of yourself as well.  It's not being weak or giving up if you just can't do it anymore - we all have our limits and i'm sure you realize that now. What a wonderful gift you gave your grandmother while you could!

Chickens are good therapy for me too - and I'm glad they are helping you find focus. 

I know the new warranties cover 3 years now. But I don't know when they went into affect. It sounds like it may still be under the 2 year warranty. I'd give them a call.

And i will call them if it persists beyond oil, which im positive it will...

Amen, and Amen!  We spend too much time tending to the got to's and to things.  My trip to Guatemala taught me that things can become a huge liability.  We are so rich in posessions that they rob us of the things that truly matter:  relationships and time to just simply be.  So... take the time to enjoy just sitting with your family.  Take the time to marvel at the beauty of your garden, at the chicks frolicking through the grass at Mama broody's side.  Feel the sun on your face.  All too soon, it will be gone.

Thank you very much. I just hope that post helps someone out of a dark time in their life. I've been as low as you can possibly be without dieing and I've learned alot from it. Life is a wonderful gift and you shouldn't abuse it but I definitely know how it feels to be so low that you want to end it. Life and love is always the better choice. Always.

I want to Thank You All So Much for your support. Todays been a bad day and thats when i just cant stop the deppression. Im trying Really Hard to pick up the pieces. Some days i still fall apart. Today my flipn water was cut off! I KNOw i paid them people and i can Hear the transaction on my phone and its got me freaked out

It's super hot and muggy today, so I went to bring the chickens a cold snack and when I opened the run, no exaggeration, there was about 2dozen flies in the run! What the heck! Will that bother the chickens?
What did you think about them offering the vaccine?

Nope. I haven't done vaccines yet in 18 years of raising birds, not inclined to start now.

I think every single one of us is trying to figure out a way to make enough money off of these chickens to retire and stay at home with them. The first one that figures it out gets a parade

Not chickens, but turkeys...we are headed in that direction very soon. My husband will give up his IT manager career and be a full time farmer.

I still get to work, though.
