Yeah, I have heard they improved their line of engines but was still leary about them. We like the Kohler's. Thats what our Kabota had in it. I miss that mower. We have an old Craftsman mower that my parents bought in 91 that has a Briggs and I can't knock that 1. We used it a couple years ago to make cutting the grass a little faster, so I'd use the Craftsman and my husband used the Kabota. Before that it had sat for atleast 10 years, we pulled the carb, cleaned it and replaced the float and a couple seals and it started right up. It smoked like a freight train but it ran pretty strong. I don't know if we could get it to run now or not though. We've been using a MF tractor and a bush hog to cut the grass with lately just til we find a new mower. You might want to look @ the Dixie Chopper...that's what I have. Bought it new 15 yrs ago, used it 4-5 days/week for years. Came from the factory with a 20hp Kohler. Had to replace the Kohler 2 yrs ago; now has a 24hr Briggs twin...does a good job & easier on gas. Briggs are better than they used to be.
I wanted to share this because I came across it this morning and since it was being discussed here thought it might be interesting!
Re: vent holes
Unobstructed ventilation holes, both above and below the eggs, are essential for proper air exchange. HOWEVER New Studies (Show Dr.Bramwell Discussion) have found that a slight decrease in oxygen the first 10 days (ONLY the first 10) creates a natural higher CO2 level which will naturally build in the incubator and add a little stress to young embryos which will force the embryo to survive and grow stronger, hatch earlier, hatch larger, grow stronger, grow faster and yeild more muscle mass at 6 weeks of age. PUT THE VENT PLUGS IN FOR THE FIRST 10 DAYS ONLY and then REMOVE ALL VENT PLUGS for the rest of the hatch!
A lot of my issues that I work out through my humor come from growing up in an addicted family. I have a lot of anger because of it, and I channel that anger through humor, mainly at Amy's expenseI never liked pot much, it made me tired. But I wish I had never touched a prescription med pain pill or some of the other "harder" drugs that I've done. They have ruined most of my life. I never liked anti depressants cause they turn you into a zombie, that's assuming you can stay awake after you take them. And like you said it just masks the real problems. But with counseling and a supportive husband and sister in law I've made a complete 180 in life. At first I had to make myself look for the positive things in every bad situation and eventually that's all I did was see the positive. But that's just me. What works for some may not work for others. I just always remembered it could always be worse. In most cases, way worse.
That funny that they are hiding nests! What would the float test tell you for infertile eggs?
Oh, I wanted to ask yall, how can you tell if a chick has pipped internally? I'm nowhere near that yet but I want to know what to look for when the time comes.

That's why I bit the bullet & had a new engine dropped into a 15 yr old mower, besides needing the large ag tires for this hilly country. We like the Dixie Choppers too but they hold they're resale value so well that we just can't afford 1, new or used.
