She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Simple solution... any of our older, questionable, muddy or excessively dirty eggs I just hardboil, crunch up and feed back to the chooks... gives them some extra protien and calcium... especially if any of yours are going into molt like mine are...
My poor Sulmtaler roos tail is roached right now... looks like a dog bit off his whole tail... :/

Do just grind up the shell with the egg and feed it to them?

I admire you greatly for your caretaking, and homeschooling and great parenting. Im sure you are there for him, he raised such an amazing woman. I did all i could and i rest easier with that. I was so far gone i actually packed her up and brought her there by myself because i realized i had no other options. Of course i had called every friend and family member before that, i told them how bad i was getting and how i Couldnt handle grandma anymore. They couldnt do anything but say how sorry for me they were. I had built a huge support network, and i let it all crash as i isolated myself in deppression. I highly reccommend the Alzhimers website to any caregiver as u can use most of the info on all patients and yourself.
Luckily that is one thing, thank God that I have not had to deal with. My mom took care of my Grandma at the end of her days and she had alzheimers. I think the hardest parts were her more coherant moments when she new she was "loosing her mind". Very hard to deal with.

Dad breathed his last in our living room in '06 after spending the last 1.5 yr. with us. Hospice got us a bed for him, and we had a lady to help us. We'd watched Mom die in a nursing home 3 years earlier, and determined to do everything we could to see that Dad didn't go the same way.
I know that feeling and right there with you.

Stop what?

Knew you couldn't leave it alone.
You ain't got that much on some of us. I'm old enough to be Mama to a lot of these young pups.

Amy, you won't see a skunk unless you're out strolling at midnight. One night last summer, my cat was out. I went out to get him in, cause cats being outside at night is a recipe for disaster. Well, I found my cat alright. He was cavorting, having the time of his life with a baby skunk. New best friend. I spent about an hour outside trying to catch that cat without getting too close to the skunk. The cat was having none of that. When we try to catch him outside, it's "Game ON!" as far as he's concerned. That's why he's an outdoor cat. I got tired of chasing him over hill and dale, through mud, snow, and poison ivy when I was supposed to be getting in the car and heading for work. That cat can sneak through a door faster than you can open it.
At 71, my dad was still water skiing on one ski. At 90, he still runs circles around me.
You got good answers. For the most part, it doesn't really matter until your hatch is winding down, then you need to know so you can decide if you should do an assisted hatch so you can INCREASE YOUR HATCH PERCENTAGE. GO RED!!!
I take the dog out at night and so far have been lucky. Have seen a red fox dead on the road from my house and a coon, but no skunk as of yet.

A lot of my issues that I work out through my humor come from growing up in an addicted family. I have a lot of anger because of it, and I channel that anger through humor, mainly at Amy's expense

The reason I am still angry at 42 is because the addiction is still there. No one ever took responsibility for their own lives, it was always everyone else's fault. Kudos to you for taking responsibility for your own life, and making changes that are a benefit to you and your family

That is the most frustrating part. Watching them blame everyone else.

Do you know I've been dying to see an internal pip! I never have. My first couple hatches I didn't dare open the incubator during lockdown. I thought for sure I would kill all my eggs. Then Amy convinced me it would be ok. So I keep looking for one. But all my eggs have managed to externally pip without me catching the internal pip!
LOL

That would be an awesome feature. Especially for shipped eggs. You wouldn't have to handle them or open the incubator and let heat/humidity out!! If you make it, let me know and sign me up for 2!
So so true! Kids are so forgiving! They are just so accepting and love unconditionally. I am here today because of mine!
Not handle the eggs????

Sometimes twisting it is the only way to get it in the spot!! At least if I remember correctly....

When I build the Master Bator I know who won't be getting 1
