She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Well my overly crowing cockerel problem will probably not last too much longer. I went in to the run to close the people door to the shed, and the little **** dropped his wing and slammed into the back of my calf. I pushed him away with my foot and continued locking up. Went to check on my hurt Legbar (just looked at her in her hiding spot from 10 feet away, and the ****** full on tried to spur me in the back of the calf while my back was turned. Glad he doesn't have any spurs!

I kept backing him up but couldn't catch him. Later I went in and grabbed him off the roost, held him upside down by his feet and pinned his head to the floor until he stopped struggling. Then I calmly put him back on the roost.

He's got until this weekend to shape up, or he's culled. Wait - he will probably be culled anyways and I'll keep Jack and see how he does, even though he's not as "pretty".

He's messing with the wrong Friday!! You did good! Did all the others see you do that to him? I'm not there yet but I've heard it said so many times, there too many roosters in the world to deal with a bad one!!

No sleep for you tonight!

Sick baby...I'll be up half the night with him anyway!! So I guess that works out for tonight!

Great picture!

Thank you!

Love the pic. You're going to have to post lots of candling pics so I get my fill. I'm trying not to candle this batch besides 7,14,18. How boring! But I gotta try! What kind of egg is that?
Exactly! One thing I'll miss about the mini when I get a bigger incubator is the dome! You can literally watch at eye level!

Thanks! Pekin duck x allbury far as i can tell. They donno the second one for sure mostly theyre all pekin :) that translates to: theyre Very Clear, lots for me to look at, and snap pics of ;)

:jumpy

Nice, you can rock the baby and stare at the incubator at the same time! Hope the little one gets better soon.

After I came in the house I waffled a bit on whether I would cull, then got a FaceTime call from my 3 year old grandson. He asked me if he could come see the chickens. He'll be visiting in a month and the thought of him being attacked made me sick. (Even though he would never, ever be let in the run alone with the flock.)

I have mixed feelings. I also have Jack, who is the same age and doesn't even look sideways at me, and is much, much quieter. With a really small flock like mine, I have to be choosy in who stays and who goes.

I'm just a hobbyist, trying to build a better Orloff. And that includes nice temperament.

Ducks are the best to candle... love it when they start swimming around in there with those tiny little webs...

I'm trying not to look cuz I have a batch of shipped eggs... and I don't want to get false hopes up... lol...

I like Jack better... I had 1 mean roo... got rid of him and all his offspring... I don't breed aggressive attitudes...

Shipped eggs are so hard. As soon as I think I'm never going to order shipped eggs again, I see something really great and unavailable near me!
