She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Yep, CRS...

Need a wind up alarm to put next to it... just a thought...
Well then, if I were you I would load up the runs with as much material as poss, so they are high and dry, then get yourselves a houseboat.

It got slow, I was bored. I'll be Mr. Nice Guy again on Tuesday for WV's parade :thumbsup

Don't jinx me!

Don't be bored, it must be beer o'clock by now. :ya
I use anything that has carbon that isn't an arm and a leg. come fall i will be loading up with leaves. even bringing bagged leaves from the side of the road that someone else raked up. they are free and dry out quickly. I read somewhere that someone made a drainage moat around their run to help run off. It may have been right here.

Its beer thirty for me! :gig

:lau   Let me know how that works for you.

I had that CD...LOVED it.

I actually prefer to hand turn and have had my two best hatch rates hand turning.

I finally set eggs again last night. 19 possible OE. From my Marans roo x EE/Leghorn mix. They have pea combs so I'm hoping the chicks have the olive egg (blue) gene. I added a fan to my bator so we will have to see how that goes. Can't wait for my Brinsea Spot Check to get here.

ETA: Since the mama is half leghorn the chicks could get the white egg gene right? All the eggs in the bator are light blue.
My guess is that you'll end up with either lighter brown than the Marans, or green/olive. My EE roo over brown egg layers, white egg layers, and Aqua egg layers is giving a nice blend of tan, blue, and aqua. Combs are straight, pea, kind of rose, and walnut. My chicks are almost 100% gender id-able at hatch.

I have a couple sponges, 1 of them is real small, probably 1x2 inches, if I wetted that, do you think that would be enough to keep the humidity at 30ish%?
I'm really fond of using a sponge. Remember... it's surface area that matters, so your 1 x 2 may be just fine because of all the holes in it. The surface of each of these holes adds up so that the 1 x 2" may actually be = to many square inches. To counteract the rapid drying of the wet sponge, just set it in a small cup, and it will constantly wick water from the cup. Keep the cup full: voila! If that sponge is not big enough to do the job, add an other or take it out and use a bigger one.

I always hand turn Call eggs...

What color skin does your NN have? And the Silkie mix kid?
All of my nns have pink skin even the silkie mix one. The silkie/nn has the 5 toes but not the silkie skin coloring. They all have annoying bowties too. I thought for sure I'd get some clean neck nns from my pullet hatch as I thought 2 nns produced half clean necks, but either I misunderstood or my roo isn't as dominant as I thought. All 4 of my nn hen's eggs that I incubated were nn chicks- with bow ties and the only other nn from the 20 eggs was the silkie nn.
