Yes, it is.  Still don't trust him and have committed to DH to get rid of one of the boys this weekend.  I also have to put down my Legbar with the hurt leg.  It's just not healing.

Need to make my mind up by Sunday.  One more mis-step and it will definitely be him.

I dumped the coop liter into the run today!! So you just put all the raked leaves in the run? Do they flatten out? I'm just picturing the leaves being higher then my silkies!!

I like to run the leaves over with the lawn mower and dump the bag into the run. Cottonwood leaves take forever to break down so that gives it a head start - and keeps them from blowing all over the place.

In hatching news, I'm trying to hatch this quail egg! 21 hours and no progress. So I went to make the pip hole bigger (it was just a crack) and he had pipped the shell but not the outer membrane. So I made a hole and found his beak. Then took my flashlight and looked for veins. I saw one going down to the pointy end. So I'm waiting. If he's able, can he hatch by himself or will he need further assistance now that I intervened?

They peck and scratch the leaves and they disintegrate. I give them a bit of scratch every once in a while and they fluff up and aerate the litter, turning it into lovely compost.

Tough call, but if it were me (and I'm no expert) I believe I'd end it. After all this time, I'd think he'd likely have problems his whole life. He'd have been out already if he'd been healthy. Just my opinion.

On a chicken note: Koritsa, my ornery teenage cockerel, has given me a wide berth today.  This afternoon he looked at me funny and I pinned him with his beak to the ground and firmly held him there until he gave up.  Now he won't come anywhere near me.

Oh I have a boy just like that, his name has changed from Joe Cocker, to Joe Flocker. His days are numbered.

I a sister one after 24 hrs pipped, it was malpositioned. It now a very healthy cuckoo marans.
