She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Now we're in a "She said, She said" situation.  Truly, either way will probably work, and most important will be to watch your air cell size.  If the chick grows, it should push the air cell to the right position, especially if you lock down with the fat end up.

Go with your gut instinct.

Ravyn has much more practical experience than I do, I've just been doing a ton of research since most of the time, shipped eggs are my only option.  The latest info (Thanks to Ruby) made a lot of sense on how inadequate turning during early incubation can cause more deaths later (near lockdown).  Manage your incubation to support your best eggs, don't risk the "good eggs" to try and save those that may be too damaged to survive anyways.

I can only tell you what I will try next time I receive shipped eggs.  Good luck!
I can't remember how many had cells like that, honestly after I saw them moving around I got so worried I wasn't really paying much attention but I think only 3 or 4 out of 12 were like that

I think I'll wait til tomorrow and ask everyone's opinion and go with a majority vote? I'm so worried now, I really don't know what to do. I hate to seem like I don't trust either of you but I'm drawn in 2 different directions now :(

Just go with what you feel most comfortable with... all is good, we're just giving advice not forcing you to take medicine, lol... :)

maybe not  if you looked at the pictures I just posted the air cell is not detached just in the wrong place.

I have no clue what to do about those, sorry... seen it happen and had a couple laid with detached air cells but I never set any of those... :/

You can always post them here... everyone here likes chick pics, lol... would like to see them and see how many girls/boys ratio you got... chicapee here has a girl from me too... :)

Sounds good, I will post some tomorrow.
Those little suckers are fast lol I tried to catch them earlier to put them in a small baby pen so they could get some outside time.

It's not a trust issue, because there are no absolute "rules" you can follow. You just learn all you can and do what you think is right and move on from there. Do not be worried over things you have little control over!!

Most important is steady temperature, good humidity and gentle movement. Truly, I believe there is little you can do to "undo" shipping damage. At this point, the chicks will grow or they won't.

Shipped eggs are a huge gamble and I hope you are lucky!

Yeah, I saw that, that's strange :/ I've never heard of anything like that, but it sure is developing! I wish I could see some type of blood vessels right now so I know something is happening but these eggs are brown and speckled so all I can really see right now is spots, lol.

Little baby quail is here! He started trying to make progress on his own but the inner membrane was yellow and shriveled around the pip and his head, so I took him out and slowly started to help but then he just started trying his hardest to bust out of of the shell. He was literally breaking out faster then I could help. The inner membrane was stuck in a few spots and I peeled it off. I have no idea what newly hatched quail are supposed to look like. I don't even know if he's normal. Looks like an undeveloped chicken chick. But the yoke is absorbed fully and not a drop of blood or fluid. And he started peeping a little. We'll see if he makes it tomorrow morning. I'll be up early cleaning the incubator and setting the rest of my eggs!! Thanks for all the help/support!
YAY!!!

I have a problem not sure what kind of egg .could be SLW or GLW or BSL but this is a first for me . day five and the air cell is not on top.

the egg is developing the middle picture shows it .and I have another like this.
Do they move at all or is the air cell actually attatched to the side of the egg?

I'm going to chime in, but remember, I have never done shipped eggs.

If only 3 or 4 are like that, this is what I would do, take it with a grain of salt, I would remove the turner and lay down the ones that have nice attached air cells and turn by hand 3xs a day. Once you have development in the eggs, turning becomes important. The ones that have the detached air cell I would incubate upright in cut down cartons and would tilt the carton at least twice a day. That should keep the embryo from "sticking" to one side while not having it in constant motion all day long. And that's what I would do.
