are you becoming stuffy?  ha ha ha this post made me chuckle!  I quite enjoy Oz's dry humor and straight forwardness.  I respect him for it, I agree with him that his thread is his tale and an enjoyable read, his Diary to be shared!  He is quite the busy man for idle chat, but he and I both enjoy good conversation, we tend to enjoy educational discussions that can help others along with our own endeavors.  Love that man so much can you tell? He is a supportive, knowledgeable, and loving friend from our first private message.   Anyway... carry on BYC is a forum! Thats why its here and anyone that knows me knows I am a goofball here to help when I can.  Unfortunately last year took its toll on my body and now the good Lord is helping me to carry on and get back into my life! How have you been @lazy gardener

I missed BYC and everyone here, I had to spread into some health support groups for a while to help me understand my health, healing and to be honest, just needed help coping with the depression illness can bring.  Sunshine was being lost very fast for me, I need help bringing that sunshine back!
:hugs

Please never do that, but have caution.... those mods :rant   ha ha ha :lau

ps...
I do love BYC Mods, imagine having to deal with all these people and posts, imagine all that reading! My son would cringe LOL
KUDOS to the Mods for keeping it safe for my daughter to be on here too! Everyone should thank a Mod!

Welcome to the thread! :frow
I've heard a lot about you, and hope you will post some. I'm always skirting that mod line :gig, but this thread turns on a dime when a serious question is posted.
If laughter will help bring the Sunshine back, this is the place to be :thumbsup

@SC: yes, I am a BIG worrier!! I'm always worrying about 1 thing or another, that's why I have more grey hair than blonde at 35 :( Ever since I started the incubator the day before I got my eggs, my stress and worry level has gone through the roof. And don't ask about when the eggs got here, that was a BAD day!!

Welcome Sally!!   :frow

Megan - my 2 cents would be on leaving them in the turner and continue doing what you have been doing.... and hope for the best!
K, that's what I'm thinking too. It's already day 6 almost and they've been rocking back and forth since day 1 so I'm thinking letting them sit may cause more harm than good. I don't think after 6 days in the bator that letting them sit is going to help with the DAC's anyway. I wish I had noticed them from the day I got them :(

I understand your concern, and feel for you. We all want perfect hatches. But we learn as we go, we offer advice and support to others, and we try and try again. It is never easy to lose a chick, or figure out something that you feel like you should have known before... but you didn't know, so you can't beat yourself up about it! You are learning, so I would bet my bottom dollar that you will check air cells on your next set... right? So, lesson learned..... see what works or doesn't work this time, and use what you figure out to your advantage next time.

(I'm still wondering if not rotating my tray for the full 3 weeks will have any effect, but I'm not worried about it. If it has an effect, then I'll know better for next time!)

I have a problem not sure what kind of egg .could be SLW or GLW or BSL but this is a first for me . day five and the air cell is not on top. the egg is developing the middle picture shows it .and I have another like this.
Was this a shipped egg or local? I've been reading some interesting stuff on air cells. Both shipped and ones from your backyard. It's fixed on the side??
YAY!!! Do they move at all or is the air cell actually attatched to the side of the egg? I'm going to chime in, but remember, I have never done shipped eggs. If only 3 or 4 are like that, this is what I would do, take it with a grain of salt, I would remove the turner and lay down the ones that have nice attached air cells and turn by hand 3xs a day. Once you have development in the eggs, turning becomes important. The ones that have the detached air cell I would incubate upright in cut down cartons and would tilt the carton at least twice a day. That should keep the embryo from "sticking" to one side while not having it in constant motion all day long. And that's what I would do.
Amy, the problem with this would be that I'm sure all shipped eggs have a tiny bit of damage, even the best looking ones. They are more delicate then regular eggs. Since she didn't candle in the beginning and doesn't know how much damage there is or was, then laying them flat and turning 3xday might kill the embryos that are struggling to develop and hang on to loose chalaza. I did this my first batch and half died when I laid them down and started turning (even though air cells looked good). After doing research, I now know they were too delicate to do that on day 5.

You made it!! I was just going to tell everyone we need to tag you, and you will appear!!! So happy you dropped in. We'll keep you entertained, for sure!! Post a link here when you start up the new thread.
K yall, I'm still at a cross roads, don't know what I should do, so I want to ask for a few more opininons. The DAC's (detached/loose air cells) should I let them rest in the incubator, fat end straight up, for a couple days or keep the turner going and hope for the best or let the DAC's rest and keep turning the good eggs by hand or... any other suggestions? It's day 5, 1 pm today starts day 6 which is in 4 hours. From the research I did online last night it seems these guys chances are grim and very slim to none so I'm thinking it may not be worth the struggle and the stress to the other eggs to move them all around. I'm thinking leave them in the turner and hope for the best but wanted to hear a few more opinions.
I'm going to pm you some info...

Very true. And yes, I will definitely check the air cells the right way next time. When I checked them this time I was afraid to move them too much since they were shipped so I candled them in the carton and didn't realize I should tilt the eggs a bit to see if the cells roll or not although now it seems like common sense but I'm so new to all of this and I just wanted to hurry up and get them in the bator ( I did let them rest 24 hours before I set them) so it never crossed my mind to tilt them a tad. Atleast I didn't spend alot on these eggs. After shipping I only paid $12. I won the auction at $1.98

@Ruby: yes, send me any info you have, lol. I did a little looking online lastnight but I was so tired that I only comprehended about half of what I read so any info anyone has is VERY welcome.
