Should be a mess of feathers in one area if a dog grabbed her, I'd think.

That's what I thought too. But the only feathers I saw was a tiny amout stuck to the wire where he was pulled through. Whatever got him stopped right in the middle of my front yard about 3 feet from the run and 20 feet from my front door and ate him. There was a little pool of blood in a leaf where whatever it was "had lunch"

Subcutaneous rehydration, you would need normal saline and an iv cannula or needle and syringe.

I'm kicking myself because I really should have been more concerned that he wasn't drinking. I was just hoping he was but that I was missing it. He was fine all night, woke the whole house up several times crying. Then just went down hill fast. The kids are bummed!!

Here is a video for a chicken. You would only need a tiny amount. I would really keep trying orally with a bit of nutri drench.

Update for Tempest, she is with her friend Boadicea the clb who is doing a wonderful job in grounding her and going to her aid. Boadicea has a real calming affect on her. They are chowing down scrambled eggs. Tempest appears to be gradually improving. They had some scrambled eggs yesterday.

K, sorry about the pic quality, apparently my phone doesn't do so well in the dark. Now yall can also see why i had such a hard time with candling these eggs. Is that dark spot up by the air cell the beginning of an embryo?

I've been out searching for a lost chick.  Went out to check the playpen and Solo is gone, not  a trace, not a sound.  Of course the 2 little Americanas are in the playpen like nothing happened.

Totally bummed.   

No way!!! That's horrible. After getting her buddies and everything! I'm so sorry!

And then yesterday 1 of my 2 Nankin hens disappeared too. That's why I wasn't on here at all yesterday. Just didn't feel like doing anything. Of course she was my favorite of the 2 hens. I'm hoping she's sitting on the hidden nest somewhere but I don't think so. The 2 roos and the other hen just seemed upset and really down in the dumps. And they were clinging to me which is really out of character for them. I think a doggone hawk got her

Just wanted to know if you candled tonight?

Sorry this took so long! I've been kinda busy since I posted(like, jump-up-nasty-hundreds-of-spiders-shed-closet-coop-run-cleaning-out type of busy). I always seem to do that: toast bread and run.

N knee ways! You know I candled last night. Looks like we *may* have 100% fertility, though a few were hard to judge. One possible blood ring, a few possible clears but all have a maybe note attached.

Excuse the "zooming", auto focus wouldn't.

Did you candle, @RavynFallen ? How's it going, @meganhundley ? I'll try to catch up really quick but the auto-focus on my eye lenses isn't working either.

Same. Big day again tomorrow. More fulfilling than a day at the beach, though. . . right? Seriously, lie to me. Haven't been to the beach in years.

We are having a sever storm in my neck of the woods. Got a river running through my garden. 

I appreciate your desire to Share and all... But you can have this storm back!

Oh no I hope she turns up. 1 of my Silkie chicks just up and vanished into thin air a while back, right out of a covered run.

The "playpen" is a 3x3x6 chicken wire box that is totally inside my run.  Sometimes the older chickens jump on top of the "playpen" and it looks like they dislodged by a few inches one of the t-stakes I use as a gate/door. 

Unfortunately, some of the temporary sections of the big run are 2 x 4 welded wire that a chick could easily escape from.

Labor Day must mean chicken buying time. Sold 13 silkies and 3 cuckoo marans today. I just wish people wanted roosters, too...

Eggy update: im so mad i didnt follow my head and leave the bator off the cradle. Ot broke today, snap-- and Crash! I havent been able to candle for cracks yet but nuthin was busted, Thank God! Totally freaking out i had to leave right after and i havent made it home :'(

Oh I am sorry, Ruby. I t really isnt your fault. It would be fairly difficult to rehydrate something so little even if you have done it before. I have done subcutaneous fluids on people and a puppy that had parvo. He made it, but his sister didn't she was a lot smaller and I didn't get the fluids on board quickly enough.
